I have booked two rooms for two nights, paid fully got confirmed via online. Arrived at 1Am to check-in, but was told that hotel is overbooked and no room for us. End up in staying in near by B&B.

Arriving at this hotel, the parking seemed rather chaotic and there was a strange whiff of catfood outside the hotel, a smell that pervaded the hotel when the doors were left open. However, the rooms were a reasonable size - if poorly cleaned. What is the problem with hoovering to the edge of a room? Also, why only one set of towels when you know the room's booked for double occupancy?
At £42 a night, this was very cheap with the added bonus of free parking. We walked into Edinburgh centre - it took about 20 minutes and you can meander down Rose Street or Young Street if you want. It's also easy to get to when coming from the west and convenient for the zoo.

stayed two nights in this hotel, got it for gbp49 per night, but do keep in mind that travelodge charges an additional gbp2 for credit card booking online. find this very unprofessional and annoying for guests. it's quite difficult to find this hotel, as it is located at one end of the city. so be prepared to drive around and around looking for this hotel. parking at the hotel (outdoor) is haphazard but at least its free. it will take around 30-35 of leisure walk from hotel to city center (princes street). initially we got a room at the first floor, but directly outside our window, its the roof, where its very dirty and littered with cigarette butts and rubbish. and it looks like somebody has been walking around on the roof as well. so we decided to change room as we don't feel safe, and they gave us a room at at higher floor. our window now faces the main road, where it can be quite noisy during daytime when the window is opened. decided not to change as it's been a long day for us. the first night was warm, so we decided to ask for a fan and it was given. room was bigger than normal travelodge rooms, so it's ok.

Stayed here for one night in January as we had to catch an early flight from Edinburgh next day. We didn't expect much but WOW. wonderful hotel and staff and excellent value for money. Would stay here again, certainly.

We found this hotel to be clean and comfortable. We stayed in the older part of the hotel near the river so the room was a bit bigger and the layout was different to all the other travelodges we stayed at. The staff were courteous and helpful. We spent 2 nights here and walked into Edinburgh to see the sights. The walk along the river that is adjacent to the hotel is very pleasant. The only problem we had was a couple of car alarms going off the first night we were there but I can't blame the hotel for that. We were a little worried about the parking but they have spaces under the building as well that we couldn't see on the net.

When you are part of a tour group, you hope for the best in a hotel. Since I looked at tripadvisor reviews, I had assumed it would be okay.
However, with Edinburgh being warmer than usual and the hotel having no AC in the rooms, number 219 was too warm and uncomfortable. It only had one small window we could open a tiny bit. We left it open the entire time and begged for a fan. Luckily, the staff found one, but don't go there thinking they are available. The room was large with a desk and chair, but the lighting was dim. The bed could have been more comfortable, but it was clean. The bathroom was adequate with a sufficient shower with hot water, but the tub could have been rinsed better. One small piece of soap and one bath towel were offered even though there were two adults staying in the room. I had to ask for extra towels and pillows which the staff quickly handed to me at the desk. Bring your own hair dryer if needed. There was a sufficient cold breakfast for our group which included juice, coffee, croissants, cereal and yogurt. The staff works hard and tries to please although disorganized when busy. There is a large eating area for drinks or food all day although pricey.
The location was not the best for being right in the center of Edinburgh when you don't have a car. The bus links were insufficient and there is no real metro other than the train stations, but you can take a taxi to Edinburgh Castle for about 7 GBP one way ($11 at time of review) or walk for about a half hour with some hills involved. We did not use the airport and had a ride from Waverly Train Station via coach bus, but I'm sure other central location hotels would be a better choice.
