“Another good budget hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2012

Nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews say, its a budget hotel chain a capital city. For the price you pay its value for money, if its luxury you're after then you're at the wrong hotel. Its clean, quiet and comfortable. Its in a great location, as my husband is disabled we didnt have to pay parking. We had a ground floor disabled room, very spacious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There wasnt a kettle in our room on arrival however within minutes of me letting them know, one arrived. Only gripe is that the room was very cold even with the heater on maximum. Other than that its a comfortable and friendly hotel.

Stayed here for one night in June. Easy to get to and parking on site. Be aware it's £3.00 p/night for parking which you put in a meter so have some change with you if possible. As usual the rooms are clean & comfortable. It's a short walk to bars and restaurants. I can recommend Mercat bar and restaurant

Room Tip: There is limited parking

This place takes Travelodge bargain basement culture to new lows

The location in Edinburgh is absolutely prime, located in what should be a really great site in Belford right next to the river running by

The whole establishment however immediately smacks of "needs refurbishment" NOW

It's bad!

My last experience was very poor. It was through a corporate client booking..ie Bread and Butter stuff!

My booking was for a double room on B n B basis. I was given a single room geared towards less mobile people.

That aside, it was not what was booked and there were other issues which was not good

The staff were reasonably helpful all things considered, but in the main I would recommend a very wide body swerve to this place if you want anything better than a youth hostel experience

I will certainly be feeding this back to my travel providers at work

My boyfriend and i stayed here for two mid week nights and although the location is good the interior is in much need of renovation!
Upon check in the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the third floor and we had a nice view acroos the river. Sadly the room itself is in much need modernization although the bed was very comfy and the sheets and towels were clean.
The bathroom smelt of damp and the the shower was in need of fixing.
There was a lot of noise that came from doors banging and we could here people talking and coughing in other rooms which was disturbing when trying to sleep.
Overall, if you just want a cheap place to sleep for a couple of nights this is a cheap place to stay in a pleasant location.

Room was only £29 and I was there for a wedding in Edinburgh. Its not in a great location and there's nothing nearby it. You will be about £10 in a taxi to the Castle. Also a £10 charge for checking in early - bit of a rip off really. Place badly needs done up and the pillows were dirty, place badly needs painted, holes in the walls, stains on the roof from water damage. Bordering on being a hostel to be honest but it done the trick. Nice touch was the white carbolic soap - Lovely! Not bad base if your there for a day or so but only to get some sleep. Nice touch is actually the stream round the back making it nice and tranquil!!

Room Tip: Go for the ground floor they seem to be in better condition than the upstairs ones.

this was my second stay at this Travelodge. It is situated about a 20 minute walk from Haymarket station. The staff are friendly , rooms ok ,clean and comfortable. It has a standard Travelodge restuarant and bar area. It is used by a mixturre of business and tourists guests.

The hotel has only one good attribute: cheap. For the rest it's really bad. It's far from the centre and the closest bus to get to the centre is 20 minutes away. The rooms stink and are empty (minimal furniture). Breakfast is terrible. The beds are super tiny and thin. In a double room they only give you one soap and that is all you get. The money you save because it's cheap are lost in taxis or worn out shoes. I am sure there are hundreds or nicest places in Edinburgh to stay.
