...and is because of places like this. Typical British tourist pub with horrible food (much
like the ones that litter London).

It might be the greatest place ever to have a beer or whiskey, but they seriously just shouldn't bother with food. Be careful with tourist traps like this. Make friendly with some locals and find out where you can get real, authentic scottish food, which is wonderful.

Had a good dinner on the patio of Maggie Dickson's Pub. With a 12 year old, we were not allowed at all restaurants after 5 pm, unless they had the license to allow children until 8 pm - IF you are having a meal, and this Pub fit the bill.
Had a 'haggis, neeps and tatties with whiskey sauce' that was better than other places we'd tried - very tasty. My husband new to haggis and this he really enjoyed. Our son had lasagna, and I had a Scottish slamon slad that was delciious and of a good meal size.
Wonderful service on the patio - thanks again to our red-haired waiter!

If you want the feel of an authentic Scottish Pub the this is the place to eat. It can get a bit crowded so go early. We managed to get one of the last inside tables the evening we went. Although they were out of what I really wanted, fish and chips, we both had the Steak and Ale pie. I didn't miss the fish and chips a bit!. The meat was so tender and the gravy was very full of flavor. The apple pie we had for dessert was obviously home made. And if you want to end the evening with a warm feeling all over then definately have a shot of Scotch. They have wellover 100 types of Scothch and help you to select what might suit your taste. We were fortunate in that they had live Scotish music so it was quite a nice way to end a busy day of sightseeing

Stopped here yesterday to catch the footy and grab a quick tea. Shared a burger with the missus. Really friendly staff and the beer was nice but wasn't too thrilled with the burger meat. Not bad for £8 though :)

i'm surprised about the comments because the terrible food. I liked the food and my mum also. we have eaten there two times. for sure, it was not freshly cooked, but it was good for pub food.

and we had friendly waiters.

the music was good and not to loud.

it was a very good and warm atmosphere and I would go back for a drink or for eating for sure!
