This museum has everything! It was full of information and has very nice displays. Even if you just have a half an hour, it's worth a visit, though you'd need a lot more time to thoroughly enjoy it.

This museum is incredible. I love museums, and I've got to say, this one beat my expectations to the ground; it's huge! The sections that they have on Scotland and its history in particular are fascinating, and the museum appears to be very constantly evolving.

Wasn't sure what to expect at this museum, but was so impressed. Full of interesting artefacts and displays. Could spend hours and hours in it. Well laid out and felt very spacious which gave plenty room to view everything.
Great day out, and free admission, which isn't very common these days!
only minor bad point was cost of food/drinks in the café on the 2nd floor. very expensive even for can of juice!

The Mary Stuart special exhibition is wonderful and so much better than the Viking exhibition. Very well presented with lots of artifacts, pictures and even a replica of Mary's tomb statue. Story told in an interesting and absorbing way as you progress round the exhibits from birth to death and near martyrdom! Lot to take in and well worth a second visit. There is a charge but museum members get in free and enjoy reduced prices in shops and cafes - even with the member 20% discount I think the food and drink prices are rather high. My only gripe about a wonderful museum well worth regular visits!

This museum was far more interesting than the guidebooks had suggested. I only wish I had planned for more time. The bottom floor with the early artifacts was stunning. Andy Goldsworthy's installations added to the experience. A not-to-be missed Edinburgh resource; you actually want to make a donation by the time you leave.
