so much to see and plenty of things to interact with. Lots of space too...didn't get to see everything so a return visit will be a must

“Beautiful building”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

The museum is in a beautiful building which has an open area leading to the main floor. There are so many exhibits a minimum of 2 hours is needed to enjoy at least a portion of the wonderfully displayed artifacts. The historic portion on Scotland is very well done.

The museum is very well laid out with many interesting exhibits. One learns about the history of Scotland from the past to the present.

Lewis chessmen were the highlight! Nice modern building and thoughtful displays. Would certainly return.

“I wish this was around in my youth!”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

We visited in late April on a Sunday and the place was packed. So many people learning and enjoying themselves. There are so many things for children (of all ages) to get "hands on" and have a better understanding of how the world/life/universe works. The building itself is brilliant and the views from the roof terrace (even in the wind) was fantastic. We had a lovely cup of coffee as it was mid morning, but there were lots of families having early lunches. They could do with a bigger area for seating in the cafe, but hey that is nothing compared to what they offer. Would recommend this to anyone of any age.
