My wife and I have just enjoyed another exquisite lunch at The Mulroy where we experienced cooking of the highest quality and presentation. We started with Beef Tongue Ravioli and Cod Brandade and both were exemplary. This was followed by Inverary Shoulder of Venison and Hare a la Royale which were brilliant and showed the skills of the chef in his mastery of the flavours and textures. There is a certain je ne sais quoi that a French chef brings to cooking and Damien Rolain has this in abundance.
The Hare a la Royale, which is on the a la carte, is a classic French dish and this was brilliantly done and was perfection on a plate. With the 2 course a la carte coming in at £34.50 and the petit menu at £13.50 the Mulroy offers astonishing value for food of this quality, and ,as an example, Hare a la Royale on its own costs £35 at Kitchin restaurant.
Service throughout was informative and friendly and with a small but very interesting wine list this restaurant is a destination must.
