Owner description: The Museum represents the history of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys). Housed inside the 1790's constructed New Barracks within Edinburgh Castle, the museum tells the story of the history and traditions of the SCOTS DG including its three antecedent regiments dating back over 300 years. The antecedent regiments of the SCOTS DG are the 3rd Dragoon Guards (Prince of Wales's Own), the 6th Dragoon Guards (The Carabiniers), the 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards), The Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons), and the 25th Dragoons.

Different in feel from its Royal Scots counterpart across the courtyard, as indeed you'd expect from a cavalry v infantry regiment, it's an interesting venue with Ensign Ewart's captured Eagle and Standard of a Napoleonic regiment at its centrepiece. Inspiring stuff.

One of two regimental museums located in Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum is a great attraction. Their motto is “Second to None” and the museum lives up to that (although it is perhaps ‘equal’ to The Royal Scots Museum, also in Edinburgh Castle). The museum has displays and exhibits covering the Regiments entire history, including their times in the Napoleon Wars, the World Wars and even in modern times. The museum is informative and a nice tribute to soldiers of all times. An awesome attraction!
