Pre booked and communicaation with the staff from day one to arriving was excellent. We arrived out of hours and a warm welcome to show us the apartments, based on thhe high street excellent location and a hidden little treasure. Lots of stairs to cope with but seems to be a common theme and just expected. Great appartment loads of room and high quality facilities - very comfortable beds! Fully recommended would not hesitate going back and staying here again.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment in Tron Square for our anniversary.

Prior to our stay the staff, Harvey and Ieva, had fantastic communication with us and we were very much looking forward to our stay. They were extremely accommodating throughout and definitely made our stay special.

Arrival at the property was seamless from the taxi that they prebooked for us from the airport to the offices, to the short walk through the mysterious little alleyways to the apartments. We were particularly pleased with the fact that despite them saying that the check in was 15:00 onwards they accommodated a pre-noon one for us which allowed us to get out and about in the city.

I was a little apprehensive during the walk as coming from London, Tron Square had something of an estate feel and I did wonder where we would end up. However the outside of the property was more than a little misleading.

When we entered the property we were very pleasantly surprised. The one bedroom apartment had a HUGE entrance hall off of which was a nicely decorated bathroom with a big shower, a double bedroom, a galley kitchen and a large front room. Various cupboards held additional beds / cleaning equipment / iron / ironing board etc.

The bathroom had a large shower, sink and toilet, all of which were extremely clean and in very good condition.

The bedroom had two single beds put together which could have been a bit firmer but again were in excellent condition as was the decor of the room which included plenty of drawer and wardrobe hanging space. The only downside of the bedroom was that the property was near a nightclub so was quite noisy on the Friday and Saturday night but hey, live and let live.

The galley kitchen was quite tight for two people but was very up to date and modern with good cooking facilities and a massive fridge freezer.

The lounge was lovely with nice furnishings and decoration as well as a DVD player and HD TV on the wall.

Throughout the property the heating was powerful - a necessity in November in Edinburgh. Throw in the excellent condition of the property, free wi-fi within with its own dedicated router and its immediate proximity to the royal mile and I have to say that this apartment made our weekend really special and I have no regrets about booking it at all.

Room Tip: Beware the climb from Tron Square to the High Street - not terrible but perhaps not suitable for the...

First, these apartments differ in size. We are a long stay so requested the largest available and I am really impressed with the apartment, size, mod cons, size of bathroom, balcony etc. Plus the undergound heating is fab. The staff are nice. And the bed is huge and the most comfortable bed ever, with black out blinds that guarantee a great nights sleep. The location is not preety at all (safe tho), but it is a 10 minute walk to Princes Street of 3 bus stops away. Plus it is a 20 minute bus journey to Edinburgh park or 20 mins to the airport. The bus stop is right at the apartments and the bus service in Edinburgh is excellent. The number 22 takes you from Edinburgh Park, via Princes street to Leith. And Haymarket train station is a 5 minute walk. Plus you can get the express bus to the airport or a £1 bus to Glasgow 5 minutes from the apartment. There is also underground parking, but I hardly use my car as driving in Edinburgh is a nightmare. Ok so the downside, the parking is not actually under our building, its close, prob a 4 minute walk, but when its raining, that can be a pain. Plus the sofa's are the most uncomfortable sofa's in the world. They are not meant for long stay at all .Fine for a few days or a week, but they are enough for me not to want to return. The up side is they do convert into a sofa bed. And this is how we have left the sofa. As a bed, rather than putting up with any more back pain. I would recommend for location and how nice the apartments are. But if you are staying long term, prepare for back pain.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room!

Dear SYBDublin,

This review has been posted to the wrong company - we are Stay Edinburgh City apartments not to be confused with:

Staycity Serviced Apartments - Leamington Wharf Townhouses

Stay Edinburgh City apartments are on The Royal Mile located in the heart of Edinburgh this different company are located in the West End area of Edinburgh

The apartment was situated off the Royal Mile down a rather shoddy side street. In front of the block were five of those big wheelie bins that bottles are thrown in from pubs as there was one next door. Not a very good start, don't like the bins but stay open minded I thought ... then I nearly tripped over the homeless person sleeping in the lobby!!! Don't get me wrong, it was damn cold, I felt very sorry for him and I know it wasn't this companies fault but when you are paying for five star, you expect five star. The lady showing us the block was lovely and said she would call the police but my children were now concerned that if he can managed to get through locked doors into the lobby, could he now get into the flat? Very unlikely but the seed was sown. The apartment was not five star - there were holes in the duvet cover and the laminate was worn through in places. You were unable to shut the windows fully and outside was a bus stop. The noise was unbelieveable and we had an appalling nights sleep. (The homeless person, the police and the management company were all in the lobby on our return from our evening meal and a delightful conversation could be heard between the police and the extremely drunk man before he was moved on. He was there again in the morning!!!!) We decided to complain and fortunately the office understood our concerns and moved us up the Royal Mile to the 'place with the stairwell others have reviewed'. Again this was not five star - there wasn't a chest of drawers in the whole place and only one canvas wardrobe in one door that was the size of a pea. As we had complained so early we moved before the new apartment had been cleaned as it just been occupied. We left our bags in the lounge and put all the food etc we had purchased the day before in the fridge and cupboards. I left a note on the side saying that the contents belonged to the new incoming occupants but guess what ... when we came back, the place looked clean and the fridge and cupboards were empty!! The note was gone along with £20 worth of food.
I was not impressed with either apartment. Both were perfectly clean, the second was well situated but neither were five star. The staff were brilliant and very apologetic for the situation but I would not recommend these apartments and I would not come back to stay in them.

The ONLY blight on our stay here was the stairs. I had to carry some heavy as sin bags up, which didnt help. After having trekked a fair bit in Skye I was keen to get to a town where walking didn't involve much "uphill-ness". I got over it though as its around this time that I start pre season training, and what better way than flying up stairs?

The service was great, from Harvey?, and the young lass who as also there.

Location is great - royal mile (tourist shopping, pubs/restaurants, street performers/artists), castle, camera obscura, etc.

If you don't mind the stairs (really only applies to levels 3 and up), then I would definitely recommend this place.

I booked this apartment for my daughter and 15 friends as her 21st birthday treat and they all had an absolute ball. The atmosphere of the weekend was set right at the outset by the very warm welcome given by Harvey when the keys were collected. The group were just delighted with the whole environment and commented on the extremely well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, spotlessly clean en suite bathrooms, clean lines and modern decor, they could not have asked for more. Superb location right on the Royal Mile. Option of a late check out (small extra fee) was a particularly useful plus point. Worth every penny for such a memorable birthday treat weekend and very good value for money if the cost is split between a group. The girls would thoroughly recommend this apartment and I would only add that they whole booking procedure went smoothly and I had very good communication with the company. A real find in Edinburgh.

Fantastic review, thanks for taking the time to post. The neighbourhood is fabulous and one of the best in Edinburgh and I do hope you come back and stay again. A very safe areafor girls on their own and in groups and we have lots of groups of girls staying which is great! All the main attractions and bars are a few minutes away from our apartments! We have the widest selection of large apartments on The Royal Mile ideal for Hen and Birthday parties. Another fab review for our fantastic small team of amazing housekeepers! I will pass this feedback on!
