“Great hotel in Edinburgh”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

My wife and I stayed here last week for 4 days while visiting the city. I chose it from the web and we couldn't have picked a better place. Ultra modern, spotlessly clean, very friendly staff, good hot breakfast and superb hot showers. In fact the best hot shower in a hotel ever in the UK.
A good hotel to stay in while doing all the tourist bits. About 10 minute easy walk to the castle and Royal Mile, another 5 minutes to Princes Street/Waverley Station. I believe all the rooms have a small kitchen area, ours did, with microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle etc and the hotel will even get some shopping in for you if you want !.
Would most definitely stop here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room, they are even bigger.

I stayed at Residence Inn, Edinburgh on multiple occasions during the months of April to July 2013. As expected of a good hotel, the service was fast and consistent on all my trips. It's a relatively new property and at a good, quiet location. The room was spacious, comfortable and well lit with natural light. It's a short walk to the Royal Mile but there's a large park less than a few minutes away which is great for a walk or a run...

Room Tip: I liked the rooms on higher floors!

Stayed for 2 weeks, the hotel was very convenient to the attractions and transport. The studio queen was very spacious, has both european and UK power points and staff were always on hand when needed. I didn't have an issue regarding the aircon, I usually had the heater on..guess it's up to individual taste.

+ complementary breakfast, laundry, wifi and printing services.
-only 1 lift and some rooms look straight onto a office block so you have to keep the curtains drawn for some privacy.

We spent 4 nights in the Residence Inn, loved it's location, close amenities but there is no A/C and it is really really hot. Kept the windows open but with construction nearby it gets very noisy early on. The kitchenette is awesome and with a small grocery story just around the corner it was perfect for light snacks and drinks. For such a large room the bathroom sink is tucked into a very small corner and makes it difficult for 2 people to get ready at once. The floor to ceiling windows make the room look lovely but you look directly into office buildings across the courtyard so have to close the curtains most of the time. Overall it is a nice hotel with a great location.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel during a recent conference at the University of Edinburgh, which is just next door. The hotel is fairly new and in a quiet but happening part of the city that seems to be undergoing refurbishment. We were very close to the main attractions of Edinburgh without being too close to the touristy areas.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. We had a small kitchenette with microwave and fridge (typical of Residence Inns) but no stove, which wasn't a problem for our stay. The furnishings were very modern. We had plenty of electrical outlets and space in which to work, and the free wifi was a plus.

The shower was a treat--spacious with excellent water pressure. The sink was located separately from the rest of the bathroom, which wasn't a problem except in the middle of the night when one of us had to use the bathroom, as there was not a separate light for the toilet and for the sink. This was a minor problem. Another minor problem was that the room could get very warm during the day, and the window didn't open very far to let in breezes. However, the room came equipped with a fan, which helped.

In addition, the Residence Inn provided one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had. A breakfast buffet, with many British specialities, was included, and I've paid for breakfasts that fell far short of the complementary breakfast at this Residence Inn. Also, another much-appreciated, surprising amenity was the free laundry facilities.

Service was excellent, the location was ideal, the room was comfortable and clean, and the amenities were outstanding. I highly recommend the Residence Inn and would stay here again.

This property is located close to a bus route in a newly developed part of Edinburgh. It is a short walk to the castle and Royal Mile and a short walk to the "hop on and hop off" bus route. I really enjoyed the quietness of this neighborhood. A lovely bookstore and Starbucks are just around the corner. And, if you are traveling with children, there is a very large park about two blocks away. The property is only about a year old and is in excellent shape. The staff have a total "how can I help you" attitude. My traveling companion left a raincoat on the plane coming up from London. A staff member was very helpful in retrieving the item. You won't be disappointed with this selection. Also....a complimentary washer and dryer located on the ground floor. Much needed if you are traveling for multiple weeks!

We stayed here for 3 nights in Sept, 2013. We had a large room with 2 beds and it was very well done and clean. It was a bit warm with no a/c and a window which only opened a bit. During a hot summer this would not work. The bathroom was awkward with a separate sink and shower/toilet room but you had to turn the light on in both so it could be disturbing to your partner. The breakfast was fine, but, the breakfast room was very crowded. The front desk staff were very helpful. I was surprised (using Marriott's for travel regularly) that the "Inn" did not offer robes and slippers or movies on demand. Also a Nespresso would have been nice instead of instant coffee in the room.
The location was excellent and there were good restaurants close to the hotel as well as the Sainsbury mini market.
