“Green, easy and modern”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Stayed here in January for Hogmany and ended up liking the hotel. It was certainly very different from any other hotel experience I had to date. The hotel room was small and the bathroom only had a shower with a sliding door separating the bathroom from the bedroom. The beds were the modern low profile beds, that are not very comfortable and the floors tile and hardwood. The breakfast is basic but the Starbucks is right next door. Also very easy 10 minute walk to the old city center so good location. Another draw back is not having a warm and inviting bar area to relax after dining out. The bar is right up front and feels to be part of the check in counter. Also, one morning no hot water at all.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
The location was great. Edinburgh is such a walkable and pedestrian friendly city, that I was able to walk from the hotel to essentially all the things I did in Edinburgh. There were a couple restaurants right near the hotel, although I didn't get a chance to try them.
The room was clean, modern, and spacious, as were the common areas of the hotel.
The staff was welcoming and friendly.
The breakfast was also nice.
Everything was great...no complaints!

We stayed at the Residence Inn in Edinburgh for 3 nights.
Great location in Quartermile in the student part of the city, approximately 20 minutes leisurely walk from Prince's Street.
This was my first experience of a Residence Inn. Check-in was polite, simple and efficient. The rooms are generous, modern with the added facility of a "basic kitchen". As it is located in a quiet area of the city, we slept well.
Breakfast is somewhat chaotic. The space provided is limited. This should be OK if you are patient and accommodating.
Would I stay again - yes.

The hotel is conveniently located in the "Quartermile" development of Edinburgh. The area is a pleasing mixture of brand new multilevel buildings mixed with what seems to be a pre-planned collection of ancient edifices.

The hotel is completely modern. The room, 604, is very large and beautifully appointed with a decent but not spectacular view. In the room are a small fridge, microwave, hot pot and functional work area. The bathroom is completely modern and the shower was hot with good water pressure. This room has 2 double beds with the usual high quality Marriott bedding and matresses. Internet service was fast and FREE. Breakfast is included in the price. We overslept the first morning but breakfast the second morning was of good quality with a diverse selection.

On the first of our (my son and my) 2 nights, the hotel offered free wings, cheese and salad and an opportunity to watch "football".

I used Mariott points so I can't really comment on value, but free internet, one free dinner and breakfast included made this the accommodation with the best value of the 4 places we stayed during our 7 day tour of the UK (visiting colleges).

When my son matriculates to The University of Edinbrugh this fall, we will definitely return here, points or cash.

Room Tip: You are not likely to do better in Edinburgh balancing quality and cost.

The apartments are in a brand new building, situated in a location that is central to Edinburgh but also quiet, close to a park. There is a Sainsbury's local close by that can be handy in you need anything in the apartment. The structure is modernly furnished and is covered by a good wireless internet service.

Spent Valentine's weekend at the Residence Inn Edinburgh and couldn't praise it enough. Even though check-in is supposed to be in the afternoon, we went to drop our bags off before 9am and were told our room was ready for us.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was large, bed was comfy and kitchen and bathroom immaculate. For longer stays, the hotel even has a grocery ordering service.

Great location, perfect for walking around central Edinburgh and a short 20 minute walk from Waverley station.

Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was perfect for walking all around Edinburgh. The room was modern and clean. The complementary breakfast was fantastic -- bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, croissants, toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
