Myself and my girlfriend stayed here 30/12/12-1/1/13, The hotel is situated about 15 minutes brisk walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station and therefore the centre of the city. As the hotel is located in a cul de sac this means there is no outside traffic noise or noise from any other source.

The check in at reception took only two minutes and the staff were very friendly. Our room was located on the 7th floor. It was really clean and modern. The only small complaints being the sliding bathroom door that did not close over/lock properly. This was not a major issue (except for the light it let into the room first thing in the morning) for us but may be for friends sharing a room or a young family it might be.

The main negative we found about the hotel was the size of the breakfast area. It was far too small. The gaps between tables were minimum and as was the area where hot food is served. There seemed to be other retail space available on the ground floor of the hotel and it would be a very good idea if the hotel rents this so they can extend the breakfast area. Apart from this the breakfast itself was very good.

Our only other negative issue was the lift, as the hotel only has one for residents (the other being a service lift). As we were on the seventh floor it was a bit much walking up and down. However, we had to do this a lot as waiting for the lift seemed to take forever.

The staff in the hotel are great, they were friendly and helpful with a smile on their face.

If anyone staying at this hotel is looking for good plaves to eat we can recommend Namaste Kathmandu & Nanyang Restaurant. Namaste Kathmandu (Nepalese restaurant) is five minutes walk from the hotel on Forrest Road and Nanyang Restaurant (Malaysian) is right next door to the hotel. Both had excellent food at reasonable prices with great service.

Good hotel, the rooms are mini apartments which are well appointed and serviced.
Excellent breakfast with a take out facility if required, breakfast area is too small at peak times.
Great staff, very helpful

Nice clean hotel, big rooms plus cooking facilities. Staff very friendly. Breakfast were average buffet style, but ok.
They also have a mini shop plus they also arrange deliveries to your room.

Rooms have microwave, oven and fridge.
Only 10 minutes or so walk to city centre and castle.

Highly recommended.

5 of us stayed in 3 rooms from 29 December to 1st January. Rooms were very spacious, with comfortable beds. All of the staff and management were very friendly and I would certainly recommend it. Breakfast was excellent and we will definitely be going back.

Only a short stroll to the centre of the city. Don't be put of by the fact that you will drive through an area of building development, This is a relatively new hotel and the quality of rooms and staff will soon have it challenging other luxury hotels in the city. Well done Marriott.

Room Tip: A gym is on site but no pool. We didn't find this a problem - we spent more time chatting to staff in the bar/lounge area.

Very good location, nice rooms, comfortable stay, the staff is courteous and very helpful. Areas around are very beautiful , ideal place to stay if you r the one to love walking it out.
Breakfast is okay, housekeeping almost non existent, but it's a fully furnished apartment hotel, and with Sainsbury right next door, u don't miss anything.
