“Lovely food”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

Ate here as a couple. Food was great, it's all burgers really on the menu but they were fab. Perfect for a nice chilled out not too fancy meal. Service was friendly and efficient. Would recommend for a group of lads, good serving sizes.

“Good Burgers and Wide Choice of Ales”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

Lunch here was passable.. The service was OK, there was a wide variety burgers some were very different from the norm and the ones we had were nice. They need to take a bit more care with the orders - we were given a bottle of wine which had been opened before it arrived and was not what we ordered. So do make sure you check as the reaction made it appear commonplace. It did pick up from there with the food being of an acceptable but not exceptional standard. There are many better burger bar/restaurants in town e.g. the Cambridge Bar. It did not wow us.

“Loved the sweet potato fries.”
Reviewed December 5, 2013 via mobile

First visit to this establishment. We shared some olives, pitta bread and hummus to start...the hummus was really tasty. I then had a delicious halloumi burger and sweet potato fries. Both were very nice. My husband opted for the 'basic' burger, with skinny fries, and he also thought his good was very good. The portions are generous so we probably did not really need to share a starter. A pleasant lunch.

“Danger of Extinction”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

I visited this venue for the second time on Friday lunch time. My first visit was pre the Scotland v South Africa rugby game at Murrayfield, and I excused the poor quality food and the slip shod service as a reflection of the extremely busy day. My second visit was equally poor, food was dry and poorly presented, staff not welcoming, tables dirty and the place was freezing. It's a shame as they welcome dogs which means the dog walk can be combined with lunch, however there are more welcoming places where I can take the pooch and still be assured of a lovely meal and a clean and warm seat. Sorry Red Squirrel, but if you don't step up to the mark you will want for return business.

“Nice and fun central pub with good food.”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

The red squirrel in Edinburgh serves a great selection of ales and lagers which change every few weeks. The menu has a huge selection of burgers, including vegetarian and unusual combinations (lamb and mint, chick pea, etc.) As it is quite central, I would recommend booking a table, especially if there are gigs on in the many nearby venues or during the weekend. If you happen to be around for lunch, check the board for special offers on 2 and 3 course meals too!
