Description: The Home Of Edinburgh's Largest Nachos! We serve quality pub food in nice big portions. Favourites include our famous nachos, burgers, hot dogs and burritos. Lots of our dishes are vegetarian and many are vegan. We are very passionate about beer. We serve Brewdog's Punk IPA and Brooklyn Lager permanently, and our guest ale comes from craft breweries such as Alechemy, Dark Star, Five Points, Fyne Ale, Magic Rock, Moor, Summer Wine and Tiny Rebel. Our jukebox is legendary in Edinburgh for having the best selection of metal, punk and goth music. Bands such as Alice In Chains, Black Flag, Danzig, Deftones, Kyuss, Mastodon, Nick Cave, Nitzer Ebb, Rage Against The Machine and Tiger Army make up the soundtrack to a stay in The Auld Hoose. Children are not permitted on the premises at any time, and we don't take reservations. Oh yeah, students get a 10% discount on all food purchases!

“Liquid lunch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2013

Although we did not sample the food, we were impressed by the extensive range of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Not so good on the bottled beer front as only the Punk IPA was vegan friendly. Liz, the owner, was very pleasant and personable, whilst helpfully explaining that she did not have the same freedom as other pubs to stock more vegan approved beers such as the Williams Bros Brewing Company. Music wasn't our thing, we found it a little overpowering at times, but the pub had a good atmosphere and we will definitely get stuck into that vegan nosh next time we're on holiday.

“Great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013 via mobile

This place has the best Nachos in Edinburgh. Not only is there an endless mountain of chips and topping to keep you going for a week, but it also tastes absolutely incredible. The music isn't to my taste and can be quite loud, but each to their own! Great staff, great prices and delicious food.

“vegetarian haggis!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

If you enjoy metal, rock and goth music, and like veggie/vegan food, this is the place to be. Most of the meals can be ordered in a veggie or vegan version, and the portions are quite big.
The Vegetarian haggis was good enough for the 8£ it costs. (I even got a 20% student discount!) They have some refreshing ciders, like the Green Goblin, and lots of other drinks to choose from.
It looked like there were a lot of local metalheads and students. A sign said dogs are welcome, which is ok, since the music was not too loud. The staff was friendly.

“Nice for vegan metalheads”

Good food for vegans and vegetarians. Not too expensive, and you can enjoy a green goblin cider and metal music while eating.
