Holiday Inn Edinburgh

This hotel was too far out of Edinburgh to make sightseeing or shopping easy. While there are shops across a busy road, there was nothing of interest nearby. The staff weren't particularly friendly, and the room apart from not being particularly clean had a very poor outlook. They didn't even have a public phone in the lobby, but didn't mind charging for you to use the one in your room even if you had an international phone card. They were also very expensive for internet use, which is often free at hotels these days.

I have stayed here a few times for work and will stay here again. The staff were friendly and the rooms were fine. Bit of a way out of the city although there is a good bus service into the city and to the airport. The number 100 bus goes from the city centre past the hotel to the airport every 10 minutes, and is only 1.20 into the city.

We stayed one night with our two grandchildren ( 3 and 4 years old ). The room cost £64.00 including breakfast and free dining for the children. The children had individual single beds. Overall therefore, excellent value. However, the rooms are somewhat 'tired' and need a refit. together with the corridors.

Food wise - excellent breakfast choice but dinner very moderate. We had the carvery and i would suggest the chef should make a visit to a nearby Toby carvery to compare ( at a third of the price )

Therefore, for the price, very good but would be tempted to eat out, even allowing for free children's food .( There is an oriental section to the restaurant which may be OK.)

I've stayed here previously A few years ago and had high expectations about the hotel, location is good if you would like to visit Edinburgh zoo, and its 10mins into town, The lobby is smart and modern, and the breakfast was good good selection between hot breakfast and cereals etc. The toaster is not great so avoid the toast! Burnt and grizzly.
The room was bland, I felt it was really dated, not a modern looking room. The bathroom was worn and dirty looking with mould on the tiles not nice. I think with all this contributed to a bad night sleep I struggled to relax after an exhausting day of meetings etc. Good points? Great view from the front of the hotel.
Thats it ! Wouldnt recommend this hotel at all.

I normally end up (thanks to company expenses) staying in Express by Holiday Inn, so imagine my excitement when this came up at only a few quid more on the ICHotels website. Finding the place is easy enough and I was able to get free parking just by the doors despite arriving fairly late. The reception area's nicely done out and the staff were welcoming and efficient. I stayed in a room on the 4th floor facing the main road - soundproofing was fine so there was no disturbance, and the view across the valley is stunning to wake up to on a sunny morning. The bed was just 'fine' - to be honest I'd hoped for something a bit more supportive and it was sagging a bit in the middle. The bathroom was TINY! Had to do some serious squeezing to get the door closed in order to acces the bath - it's not a major niggle for one night but could get frustrating.

The food from Trader's restaurant was good if rather overpriced, but they obviously have a captive audience. No quibble with the quality though and room service was very quick with the order.

Overall a pleasant enough stay but no real advantage over the budget hotels... oh, except for the Playstation games...

This is the second time I have stayed here at the Holiday Inn and your cant beat the what you get at the price. We booked a month in advance and we got 2 nights (2 breakfasts and 1 dinner) for 2 adults and 2 children for £98.
The hotel is a little way out from the city centre but good bus routes take you into the centre in 20 mins. If you travel by car then no problems at all.
The rooms are to a good standard and clean and the staff are very helpful.
The restaurant halls and the hotel itself do get busy especially with events on in Edinburgh. The only issue I have is that the toaster at breakfast is cumbersome either you get burnt toast or hardly toasted.
The leisure facilities are very good too, jacuzzi gets filled quickly but after a short wait there is space.
At the price and comfort you cant beat it this hotel!

This is not as bad as paople make out. Stayed 1 night only, paid £68 through laterooms.com. Brakfast additional but if you book it as you check in you get it for £9.50 instead of £13.
Room was OK comfortable bed, couple of armchairs, clean. Bathroom was so small it took some manouvering to get into.
Dinner in restaurant was Ok it was Thai restaurant and good food and reasonable.
Breakfast buffet was very good, excellent variety and helpful staff.
Altogether staff were good and I would go back if I had the unfortuanate necessity of staying in a city.
