“Value for Money”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

Delighted with Hotel - def value for money, upgraded on arrival to 'King Bedroom'. Worth mentioning that using the Holiday Inn's own web site came up with a cheaper quote than a number of other well known travel sites. Reception desk staff V pleasant esp the young lady from Utah. Only down side was the charge for Wi-Fi.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the Hotel have brilliant alarm clocks......mainly the birds & monkeys in...

My Husband, Myself and our 11 month old travelled to this Holiday Inn between the 15th-17th January 2014 and we were so happy! 2 Miles and easy access to the city, a bus stop right outside! excellent amenities and the friendliest hotel staff I have encountered in a long time. It was mainly used by business people when we were visiting, but it was midweek. The Hotel has a huge car park, very decent size rooms, lovely smart bathrooms and my husband liked that he could see the car from our room.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better view of the zoo.

Great hotel with a good breakfast buffet. large gym, pool and sauna facilities on offer as well although I didn't use them. The bus links to the centre of town are regular as clockwork and only takes ten minutes at most. Great app for download will tell you what lothian buses you need to get for any destination. I've been before and would recommend it again happily.

The hotel is close to the city centre 3.3 miles or so. Stayed on a last minute deal. The rooms were ok apart from the A/C. Free parking, very welcoming staff. Also missed all the excitement of the fire alarms going off due to the inconsiderate smokers of our world... This is what probably caused the problems with the A/C. Used the bar and lounge area as the ladies wanted a beverage and they also have a costa coffee which I couldn't resist and our son loved the hot chocolate :-) . The hotel is right next door to the zoo ( they share the same access for the car park ). Didn't use the facilities that the hotel offers so unable to comment. The hotel was suitable for our requirements for the type of stay required.

Just returned from a stay at the Holiday Inn @ Edinburgh.

We were met with a warm welcome. We called in to see if we could check in an hour early. It wasn't a problem. I had requested a room with a view and extra pillows - we were not disappointed, despite booking the hotel on a discounted booking website. The room was very clean. The main bedroom offered a comfortable bed, couple of seats, ironing board and iron with trouser press. Tea making facilities also provided. My partner forgot his shaving kit and toothbrush, complimentary toiletries are available on request from Reception.

Bed was comfortable with optional soft or firm pillows.

Three miles from the centre, we managed to walk into the town at a relaxed pace in about 40 minutes. There are bus stops outside the hotel. £3.00 will get you a return ticket into the town. It cost us £9.00 to get a taxi back from the town to the hotel.

Unfortunately, we didn't get chance to check out the leisure facilities.

The hotel location is ideal if you are visiting the zoo... it's right next door.

The little touches that matter make this hotel a highly recommended stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view - beautiful views over Scottish hillside. Room 431

I was whisked away to Edinburgh for a surprise birthday weekend by my amazing girlfriend, and she booked us in to the Holiday Inn for one night.

The hotel was fantastic from the start. Free parking, well presented, vast and clean reception, easy and friendly check-in (we were 2 hours early, our room was ready and they let us check in), and the room was great. My girlfriend requested extra pillows and a view of the hills, and we got both (these were also acknowledged on check-in, so it wasn’t a fluke). We were also provided with a small printout of bus times and prices to travel in to Edinburgh centre, which is about 3 and a half miles away.

The room was spacious, clean and warm. The bed was big, very comfortable, and we slept very well indeed. The TV in the room was pretty new and very clear with quite a lot of channels. The bathroom was clean too, if slightly dated, and the corridors/lift areas etc were all well maintained and clean too.

All staff who we spoke to were friendly, even the maid (who traditionally don’t acknowledge people I’ve found!) said hello, made eye contact and smiled.

They supplied me with a razor, shaving gel, toothpaste and toothbrush as I’d forgotten mine, and these were all free of charge.

It’s great for families too, as it’s right next door to Edinburgh Zoo – about a 30 second walkaway from the door?

We managed to get a room for a knockdown price of £43 – and for that we were most impressed. Trying to think of a fault now, and I can’t.

This hotel, it’s service and staff are a credit to Holiday Inn, and will make me look at booking them more regularly in the future. I know they read these comments, so I want to say a huge thanks to them for making our stay a happy one.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the hills. The view is lovely.

As soon as we entered the hotel we were greeted by a gentleman call Sandy, who was very helpful and during our short stay a very good source of information regarding both the hotel facilities and the city itself, all in all a very genuine nice guy.
Check in was smooth and quick and again the young lady on the desk was very helpful and professional.
The room was very clean and the bathroom facilities were to a matching high standard, (Family Room on the 5th floor).
We made use of the bar area for an evening meal, and the food is very good, even though we ate in the bar area and not the restaurant we were still provided with table service, and our waitress was friendly and provided good recommendations both for drinks and food.
We also made use of the swimming pool, (full use of pool and leisure activities are free for hotel residents). We had a child with us, so the use of the pool was a good thing to do as a family.
I worked in a hotel myself for a number of years, and look for things others may miss having been on the other side of the looking glass so to speak, and I can say that this hotel is of the highest standards, I look forward to our return.

Room Tip: The hotel has every kind of room required, all easy to get to, plenty of lifts, corridors wide enoug...
