The rooms were clean and average size. The only real issues are the location ( most inconvenient if you want to see the city center, rather than the zoo) and the fact that WiFi is not provided with the room (it is an extra charge). But no WiFi is typical of this change. Holiday Inns in general need to 'get with the program' and realize that they should include this in order to be competitive.

This is what I always think of Holiday Inn. I think they represent excellent value for money. OK - so its 3 miles outside Edinburgh but the bus stop is right outside the Hotel and a day ticket on the bus is good value. The hotel is not the best I have stayed in...but. The Gym is good as is the Sauna and Pool - not the biggest but.... The Breakfast is great. The room was tidy and clean - not the most wonderfully furnished I have seen...but. The kids beds comfortable...not as good as their's at home but.... The staff very attentive and Friendly and that's it. The point is it's great value for a family and the important things are done well. For the cost, I think it is excellent. Of course you can get better, but.... you have to be prepared to pay for it. We'll be back

The Hotel was nice, right next to the Zoo. We made use of the gym, sauna & pool, which have good fascilities. The room is average, I wouldn't say 4 star accomodation but was comfortable.

When we checked in at Reception we were told that there was an offer on for the hotel Carvery, a family of 2 adults and 2 children could all eat for £30. We took advantage of this deal and booked for 6pm. When we recived the bill it was almost £70 (£25 for a bottle of wine) but still more expensive than quoted. We found out that the offer was only valid if we ate before 6pm, although nobody had told us this!

The food is nice, but as always hotels put the prices up on food and drink.

Room Tip: room 459 over looks the zoo and is in the quiet part of the hotel.

Worst ever experience ever had in my entire tours so far!! The hotel claims that it is a 4* hotel and these are the facilities printed on its website as standard facilities:
Published:
1. 4*rated room accommodation
2. Air conditioning
3. Minibar
4. Full breakfast included

Actual:
1. 10×12ft sized room with a very poor view of its own terrace (FOH claimed that this was the executive room)
2. Air conditioning is out of order and room service attendant says hotel is not going to repair it! Instead I was given a deskfan!!!
3. Minibar is no longer in service. Hence the FOH advised me to use the freezer as a storage if I have any items to be kept separately. No, the freezer doesn't work either (if you thought you would use it to cool your beer cans)!!
4. Breakfast offered is not even good enough for a man weighing 40kg!! Imagine I am 76kg, so decided to step out and have a proper breakfast in the town.

Couple more things to notice:
1. You want a bathrobe, pay additional £20 per night to upgrade yourself to executive package (which would give you a pair of inhouse footwarmer and a bathrobe)!! And remember this is a 4*hotel..!!
2. Any bathroom supplement (shampoo, shower gel, shower cap etc) will be supplied only upon a request placed by the guests, and limited to one each!
3. A bathroom full of notices and stickers as to what you should and shouldn't do in the bathroom including a notice to tell you how you should take shower!!

This was the worst and funniest hotel I have ever been to.. will never be coming back here again.

We picked the Holiday Inn because they had priced it at $60/night. Room was standard holiday inn offering. We got upgraded to an executive suite as we were on our honeymoon, although I would have preferred free wifi over a room upgrade. Price did not include breakfast either, which is 9.95GBP per head if you book breakfast the previous night.
The city centre is very easily accessed by a number of Lothian buses(26,31,12) every 15mins or so. Bus stop is right in front of the hotel.
I wish Holiday Inn in Europe would offer free wifi and breakfast with all bookings as they do in the US. $gbp 16.95 for 24hrs of continuous usage wifi is a ripoff. Tourists with no data plans on their smartphones are essentially screwed. You can't use the Internet to look up nearby attractions, restaurants, things to do etc. that was my only grouse with this property.

We choose this hotel because we got it for half price and it had a pool sauna & gym sounded amazing. For the price we paid amazing, if we had to pay full price I've had better....

Pros: -Pool/sauna/gym -close to zoo - room was clean & hygienic

Cons: -receptionist rude -pool dirty -room small -room dated
