We were very impressed with Keith's place. Beautiful and cosy home with great decor. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine as well. Five stars is what we'll rate it in terms of cleanliness, hospitality and comfort. Do not be disheartened for cooked breakfast lovers because the sumptuous spread of continental breakfast in the morning will certainly give you a bright start to your day. We felt at "home" and were given the use of the kitchen and coffee making facilities whenever we feel like it. Pampered with comfy bed, bathrobes, fruit/snacks, whisky, bottles of sparkling&still water....You wont be disappointed.

Keith is a welcoming and friendly host who always goes the extra mile to make guests feel at home in his B&B.
The rooms are well equipped and very comfortable, with a kitchen available to heat up an evening meal, and - a personal favourite - thick fluffy towels!
Last time I stayed here Keith knew I had a cold and I arrived to find a supply of Lemsip in my room and the heating turned up, which was great.
I'd recommend Alexanders Rooms to anyone looking for a quiet comfortable place to stay in Morningside.

My friend and I stayed at this B&B when visiting Edinburgh for some shopping, enjoying the sights and great bars and restaurants that the capital has to offer. It is set in a beautiful location which is very quiet yet nearby to the cool local shops, restaurants and bars in a cosmopolitan "village" of Edinburgh. It is also only 10 minutes from the city centre by bus (the bus service is frequent and runs all day) and a cheap cab ride.

The B&B is charming - Keith who runs it is the perfect host, offering attentive service but not intrusive or over bearing. He also has excellent taste so the rooms are beautifully furnished, (and large), and he has thought of everything in terms of the amenities in the rooms (bottles of water, plenty of thick towels, i Pod docking station, hairdryer, etc)
I would definitely recommend it and will be going back!!

Could not fault this place - fantastic location with great transport links and up-market local shops and cafes nearby. Our room was spacious and immaculate, looking over the private garden, and lovely choice of breakfast (served in the garden, weather permitting!) The owner is helpful and knowledgable and we felt very comfortable being in and around their beautiful home. This has to be the most relaxing place to stay - discreet and accommodating, the owner went out of his way to ensure our stay was as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. A great addition to the Edinburgh boutique B&B scene, we will certainly stay here again.

This is a really good quality small B&B located in the heart of Morningside - a really lovely part of Edinburgh that is within easy reach of the city centre. I've stayed here on a few occasions and in two different rooms. The bedrooms are light, spacious, tastefully furnished (each with a different theme) and the beds are really comfortable, with good quality bed linen. Each room has a TV and DVD player and there lots of extra special touches like bathrobes, nice biscuits and a wee drop of whisky in a decanter!

There is a large, shared sitting room which opens out onto a walled garden, which you are able to use. There is parking at the property, which is great as the area is really challenging for street parking. The only downside is that there are no en-suite rooms but as it is a small B&B this isn't a problem - the WC and bath/shower room are separate and, again there are nice touches with lovely soaps and other toiletries.

The breakfasts provided (served in the airy sitting/dining room) are continental only but have an abundance of fruit, cereals, breads, croissants, fruit juice and decent tea coffee and tea.

The local area is terrific for independent shops, cafes, bars and good quality restaurants. Edinburgh attractions, like the Castle, theatres, museums and galleries are within easy reach - a 15 minute bus ride to most places (10 mins in a taxi).

The owner, who also lives in the property, is friendly and welcoming and is able to provides lots of really good inside knowledge about the local area and the city.

I would say this place is ideal for business trips, singles, couple or small groups of friends taking a short break in Edinburgh. It's very good very value and infinitely preferable to a soul-less hotel. I really enjoyed the informal and friendly atmosphere and the touch of theatrical flair to the decor. I will definitely use it again when next staying in Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Both rooms are good - the 'garden room' gets more light.

This guest house was recommended to us by a good friend. Normally we stay in hotels but as I'm originally from Edinburgh,I knew the area this was in and gave it a go.
Initially I wasn't sure as there are no en suite rooms but the rooms and house in general are of such a high standard that fact was quickly not an issue. We had a very friendly welcome from Keith, who went out of his way to make things as easy and relaxed as possible. Lots of little touches that make this place unique. It is very quiet, our room had a lovely garden view and a lovely breakfast was included. The area is really nice, lots of interesting shops and cafe's. We took the bus into the city centre which took about 10 minutes and our taxi to the airport was around 15-20 minutes and wasn't expensive.

Alexanders rooms was a great B+B to stay at. The room was bright and very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. I loved the garden and the peace and quiet offered by the location of the house - just great!

Keith was the perfect host and the breakfast was excellent. Overall this was a great experience and the location was perfect. Parking available and a 5-8 minute taxi ride to the centre of the city.

Room Tip: Both rooms were of an excellent standard
