It's well worth a visit with interesting artists such as Velazquez, Rodin and Rembrandt. We really liked the paintings by the American Impressionist Frederic Edwin Church. Especially the sun glowing on the iceberg.

This gallery has some beautiful painting by various artists. It's arranged by time period and area the artists are from. Very easy to wander around and enjoy paintings by Italian and norther European artists.

It's very clean and bright. Not crowded.

We saw a group of students making sketches of a sculpture in an atrium.

Best of all, it's free!!

The kiss by Rodin and a self portrait of Rembrandt (on loan). Some beautiful Albert Cuyp paintings. The Scottish painters however weren't that great. No admission free, which makes it 5 stars

We visited on a day of torrential rain so it was very crowded, but we still managed to see everything close-up. Some excellent sculptures as well as paintings. Good food (and large portions) served in the restaurant, which has views of the Princes Street Gardens and the Old Town.

This museum has a small but respectable collection of western art that is well displayed. The joy of the museum is in the basement with the art by Scots. Well worth a stop. Some stunning stuff by artists not well-represented elsewhere.
