“Perfect for a city break!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

My fiance and I stayed here for 3 nights over the Christmas break. We found all the staff to be very attentive and charming. Our TV wasn't working when we got to our room, but they came up straight away and fixed it for us. The room was spacious and well decorated with a lovely big bed and walk in shower! It was easy to walk to everywhere we wanted to see and lots of lovely restaurants close by too. The only thing we wouldn't recommend is having breakfast in your room- measly portions ad you don't get the Full Scottish, which is yummy!

Room Tip: Anything except the basement!

Just back from 3 nights at this Hotel. We were up to visit city and see Lion King at the Playhouse. This hotel is in an excellent location for the Theatre and for shopping with the St James Centre round the corner and the designer shops leading up to the square.
The Hotel is very comfortable and would recommend the club exec rooms.
Very good service and friendly staff.
Excellent value for city accommodation. This is our second visit and we will be staying again in 2014.

I knew this hotel would be of a good standard with it being owned by the crowne plaza chain but it was much much better than I expected and I would really recommend it to people wanting to stay in the new town side of Edinburgh.

It's right by the playhouse at the back of John Lewis and Harvey nics so only a few mins from George st and rose st.

The rooms were really nice and modern, very comfy bed! The nice touches were things like a platter of macaroons and fruit cake on arrival in the room as well as the fact the mini bar is restocked every day for u to help yourself included in the rate! (No alcohol mind!!) really great idea.

We stayed over the Hogmanay period so it wasn't cheap but we were made up with the fact that a bottle of fizz was added to our fridge to wish us a happy new year - a lovely gesture!

We didn't eat in the hotel but the restaurant looked nice, we just chose to lie in and have lunch instead out and about.

Would def recommend!

I recently stayed at the Hotel Indigo for my Girlfriends 40th birthday. We were both thoroughly delighted that we chose this Hotel for this special occasion. We were warmly greeted on arrival and had the bonus of our room being upgraded. The room was very chic and elegant, with a fantastic bed and a lovely bathroom. We had breakfast everyday at Indigo during our three day stay, at it was very good quality. The staff at the Hotel were friendly and attentive and the Hotel is situated at great location close to various shops, eateries, bars etc. We had dinner at the Hotel on the first night of our stay and it was excellent. It was in fact the best meal we had during our stay in Edinburgh.Thank you to all the staff at Indigo for making a weekend stay so special and enjoyable.

Fantastic stay at Hotel Indigo.

We booked a superior room with 2x queen beds. The room was massive with the beds well spaced from each other and an additional pleasant seating area.

The bathroom was huge with a separate tub/shower.

The beds were very comfortable.

Despite overlooking York Place, the room was not noisy, we could hear the odd noise from outside but in a muffled way, it was well soundproofed.

We received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco on NYE.

The reception staff were very helpful and friendly advising us on bus routes etc.

The mini bar was full of soft drinks and was complimentary.

The shower was a large rainfall shower with lots of hot water.

The location is outside a bus stop (tram stop in future) and next to St James shopping centre.

Absolutely perfect: I fully recommend.

Well what can I say about this little gem of a hotel apart from WOW, We had booked this for the famous Hogmanay for 2 nights when you arrive the staff cannot do enough for you from the start we was taken to our room which was a very nice touch makes you feel more personally instead of being told where to go the room was amazing good size with a added bonus of a small patio leading outside to a small private seating area for 2.

What I don't understand is how they have managed to fit it all into a small space without feeling like you are just in a box pure genius. There is a free mini bar with snacks and soft drinks again great if you just want to take it with you for a day out. The bathroom has robes and countless towels and the toiletries...well they have gone all out in filling the bathroom with the white company products

The location is amazing 2mins walk from all the shopping stores like, John Lewis, Harvey Nicolas, Hugo boss I could go on there is something for everyone.

Tip about parking. if you do stay book your parking (call the hotel direct) there are only around 6 spaces at £12 for 24hrs which I like is cheap for the centre of Edinburgh I have paid £22 a night in London.

Tip for New Years Eve. If you do think you may want to do 2015 at this hotel book by the end of Feb I'm not joking all the hotels are normal sold out by summer this hotel is 2mins walk from the party strip.

The only thing I did not like was packing to leave :(

So to all the staff at indigo many thanks for a great stay looking forward to booking for summer.

Room Tip: room 104 has a mini patio

We researched a long time for a centrally based hotel in Edinburgh that is of a high standard and the hotel I found was the hotel Indigo.
Hotel Indigo is a boutique based hotel based on York Place. As far as being central goes it really doesn’t get a whole lot better. The hotel is directly behind the St James Centre shopping mall, about 60 seconds walk to the theatre and is completely surrounded by restaurants and bars. The Old town is a nice stroll away with the royal mile being about a 10 minute walk. So from a location point of view this is highly recommended.
The hotel style is a crisp, clean & contemporary with vibrant colouring throughout. The rooms while small are absolutely all you will need for a city break and a pleasure to return to with throbbing feet from all the walking around this glorious city.
This review, for me is a very short one, however there’s not much more to say other than I would happily recommend this hotel to any family or friends who ask me for an Edinburgh recommendation.
