“A great place to stay in Edinburgh.”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

This is were we stayed for our first two nights in Scotland, and Edinburgh. After 20 hours of airports and jets, driving at night in a foreign city and running into numerous construction diversions, we couldn't find the hotel. When we got to within 4 blocks of Hotel Indigo, the night manager walked to where we were parked and guided us to the hotel - incredible service! And such a welcome to Edinburgh. The room was a mixture of old and new styles and a very classy. We had good meals and drinks there. Everyone from the front desk to the bar to the restaurant were very nice. A small but very complete hotel in an old building. The fact that the street the hotel is on is closed due to construction is why I give it lower marks for location. Other than that, its close to many attractions

Stayed in September 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were given a lovely room with a small room attached which included seating,tv and fridge etc. Very roomy, very clean, very quiet. Very comfortable beds had a great nights sleep. Breakfast cooked to order,it was very nice and hot. Staff were very nice. We parked our car in one of the very few spaces the hotel has and it was very reasonable priced. Will definitely stay again, loved it. Thank you.

We booked the "indulgence weekend" which was 2 nights accom, breakfast both mornings and dinner one night. Room very nice but small, including quite a small bed. Food was excellent, esp the dinner. You get the set menu which would be 3 courses for £20 - which you might be cynical about but it was excellent. Staff all very friendly. Would stay there again.
Dont try to check in before 3 - rooms not ready. Ours was ready about 3.30pm.

Stayed for the weekend with my husband. The rooms were exactly as the photos portray them on website.
We were delighted with the decor and the room was very comfortable.
We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant over the course of the weekend - all were delicious!
Staff were incredibly attentive, and prices were very reasonable
This hotel is very stylish and comfortable however it is also warm and welcoming and does not have a pretentious feel that you sometimes find.
I would highly recommend you stay here, if you want to relax and explore Edinburgh.

Normally, if I'm staying in Edinburgh on business I'll choose the Premier Inn or Holiday Inn Express. However, when I checked the Holiday Inn website, the Indigo which is part of the HI group, was actually cheaper than HI Express. This made my decision a no-brainer - staying in a boutique-style hotel at a great rate. I wasn't disappointed. The Indigo is set in an old town house in a lovely location in York Place and within walking distance from Waverley Station. The rooms are very trendy and put your own bedroom to shame! Because it was a Victorian townhouse and they've had to fashion it into a hotel, the room dimensions in terms of floorspace meant it was a little small - not much room around the bed. But vertically, it was enormous with high ceilings. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was just exceptional with a great overhead shower. Only gripe was, as with all Edinburgh hotels, you can't get Radio 4 after 5pm. Ridiculous.
