“Best hotel with the dog”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

Our dog is a 15 year old terrier cross. He's more like an elderly relative than a dog and I couldn't tell you the last time he made a nuisance of himself. But we always struggle to find a good hotel with nice rooms that will accept him - Kings Manor is the exception.
The room was huge the bed was enormous and we couldn't have been made more welcome. The staff work so hard to make guests feel at home and it works. Thank you for a vey comfortable and stress free stay.

Delighted that you and your dog enjoyed your stay with us. We plan to have some more circular walks for dog owners sorted out in the near future. Hopefully that will make any future stays even more enjoyable

I was really impressed with this hotel. The staff, the room, the decor, the price... It would be really difficult to fault it on anything. Breakfast was excellent and everywhere was clean, tidy and up to date. The room was excellent although it could have done with a fridge, but then I guess you have to have something you put on your wish list! All in all I would happily stay here again.

Thank you for your kind review. We took our mini fridges out of the rooms as they were not being used. With our green credentials we found it hard to justify the energy use. We still have a few fridges left and as it says in the room information folder we are happy to put one in your room on request.
If you pre order before your next stay it will be in your room ready and chilled waiting for you.

We stayed with our pet dog 'Skipper' and had a great time here. The hotel is clean and tidy and we were able to hop on the bus to nip into the city easily. The stop was outside and the 44 is every ten minutes.
The beds were comfy and our food was served up quickly on warm plates. Staff were very friendly indeed.
Had a crack in the gym - well equipped and gave an opportunity to burn of some of that breakfast haggis that was so 'moreish'.
Good value for money here and the restaurant was spot on.

Stayed at this hotel Friday to Sunday on Valentine weekend. This is our second stay, both times in a Club Room. Worth the money for the upgrade, rooms are modern and spacious. Breakfast was good. Enjoyed using leisure facilities. The hotel is in a good location, easy to get to Edinburgh city centre by bus or train. The hotel is also very good value for money compared to the city centre hotels.

The only downside to the hotel is the hotel bar which is a bit bland. Not a particularly inviting bar to spend the night in. However, we were out in Edinburgh both nights so this didn't bother us greatly.

Will definitely return and would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Go for the Club Room, the older ones look at bit dated and are smaller

Thank you for your kind review. I am sorry that you do not like the decor of our BarZest. We are of course very happy to serve you drinks in Options Bistro or by the fire on the hotel foyer. Just ask at reception for lounge service

Having stayed in hotels for 25yrs, this reminded me of all the good things of yesteryear. Service, facilities and comfort. Exceptionally friendly staff who showed us to our room, courtesy called an hour later, and helped with my wife's special dietary requirements.

Room was large and modern, with perfect temperature. Had a slight view of Arthur's seat too. It was baby friendly, our nine month old enjoyed the spaciousness. Tv worked well and I was impressed to find a PS2, although didn't use it.

Food was excellent, with two restaurants to choose from. Full Scottish breakfast for only £10, very reasonable.

A real highlight was the leisure centre- which gave us access to steam room, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, pool, toddler pool. AND exercise classes free of charge, which was even more value for money.

Definitely would take the family there again

I stayed here for 5 weeks on business and it was a great experience. It was a great location for us as we were working in Macmerry, just 10 miles up the A1, is easy to find from the airport and it is only an 8 minute journey from the local train station to the centre of Edinburgh. There is plenty of parking space, although it can be busy between 5 and 7 as the leisure club is very popular; I never failed to find a space though. Reception was excellent; I arrived on a few occasions at 1am due to flight delays and the welcome was always friendly and helpful - even being offered help with my luggage and a desperately needed drink delivered to my room at that hour. Public areas are very well maintained. I stayed in various rooms, which did vary; mostly spacious although one room was quite small and cramped, although I was alone which helped. The beds were very comfortable and I slept well. Bathrooms were varied too, with some being modern and spacious, while others were a little cramped. There was plenty of storage, with some rooms having conventional drawers and a wardrobe while other had the current trend of open wardrobes and shelves. I had not problems with noise and the room was very well cleaned every day. WiFi is free, although can be variable in speed and reception. TVs have a full range of Freeview channels in room with Sky shown in the bar (very popular for football). We only ate in the bistro which was excellent. The staff were very friendly, the service was good and the food was excellent. Overall a "Hotel with personality". I would definitely stay again. There is a gym and swimming pool available, which my colleagues say is pretty good. It's also only a 10 minute walk from the Portobello beach and promenade.

Room Tip: Either look for a Club Room or a room in the 300 or 400 range as these seem to be more spacious and...
