spend the time to look around this museum, especially as 90% of the Scottish regiments that are mentioned in the pristine leather bound books of remberence are no longer in existence in the modern army.....such a shame! A really well laid out, well presented and informative museum........I learnt loads and i'm in the forces!

We are not great museum fans but thoroughly enjoyed this one, hidden away in the castle. Very informative high quality displays. A little claustrophobic - more natural light and better ventilation would be welcome

The dead of two world wars and a host of smaller combats. Around 150,000 Scotsmen died in the First World War alone, out of a population of five million souls. This is their shrine. I have ancestors here. May there be few to join them in future. This is not a glorification of war; it is a place of memory. Be respectful, people.

If you're keen on your Scottish War history, you should definitely NOT miss this. However, I don't have a good background on Scottish history so I wondered through the exhibits aimlessless with my audio guide (that i had as part of the Edinburgh Castle visit). The items on display were interesting, but I couldn't really understand the significance of some of the things so I felt maybe there could have been more text to accompany the objects. The video was pretty terribly produced and needs an upgrade. I think you should walk through it if you already purchased an Edinburgh Castle ticket, but only because it's part of the castle so you might as well...
