“Not too easy to find!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2014 via mobile

The best way to get here is by car. We used a day ticket on the buses and it took about 30 minutes from Princes Street but there is a ½ mile walk! But there is no footpath on a quite busy and narrow road so you have to be brave! It is worth the walk though! The staff are very helpful and the castle is surprisingly complete with plenty of rooms to explore on several levels. Views are good too!

“Awsum! Totally Worth A Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2014 via mobile

I've lived in Craigmillar for nearly 2 years and work in the city centre and today was the first time id been to Craigmillar Castle! Totally worth it. Such a beautiful little ruin of a castle. Loads of nooks and crannies to explore and see. Will definitely be recommending it to all my family and friends. You have the freedom to roam about and see all of this small but beautiful medieval castle. Ill 100% be back again. I would say the path up to the castle could be more accessible and better sign posted but thats the only criticism

“Great afternoon out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

We had a great time here - lots of nooks and crannies to explore. The views are lovely. Lots of green space for the kids to run around and play. It was made all the better by a good day of sunshine.

We paid fourteen pounds something for two adults, a 7yr old, a 4yr old and a 2yr old which I thought was reasonable and good value. This

“Thats the castle!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2014 via mobile

Perfect example of castle to visit. Small and compact, delivers medieval atmosphere in no time.

If you like something less mainstream and silly expensive as Edinburgh Castle then thats the place to go. Glad we found it.

I wish we had more time to stay in there as it closed at 5:30. Keep that in mind that almost all the shops are closed around 5-6 in Edinburgh so plan your visit in advance.

“Brilliant castle oozes atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014 via mobile

Been here twice within a couple of months, good going as we live in Bolton. This is just how you want a castle, restored enough to give an idea of what life was like during the middle ages. You can wander at will and our kids loved it, their very own castle to explore. Would highly recommend this if you are in Edinburgh and in many ways we enjoyed this even more so than Edinburgh Castle itself, not over run with tourists.
