“Great Weekend!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2014

Stayed here for a weekend break end January in Castle view room 5. Great room, stunning views and fantastic service. Had a couple of small issues which were put right. The staff have a brilliant attitude to service and deliver. Decor is great, bluetooth and free wi-fi is what every hotel room should have. Beds are so comfy and the location couldn't be better. We ate in Kyloe's restaurant on the first night and wow, these guys know what to do with steak and exceptional value. Huxley's bar is a great place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and great music and the breakfast's are very good too. If you are going to Edinburgh it is the only place to stay! Ten out of ten guys.

Room Tip: All rooms are good but if you want a view of the castle go for it!

Hello Graham,

We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us!

We have passed your kind words on to staff in both Kyloe and The Huxley. Whether it's a steak in Kyloe, or a cocktail or brunch in The Huxley (dependent on the time of day!) we agree that they are two of the best hangouts in the city.

We hope that you will have the opportunity to join us again one day soon - you will be most welcome!

Kind regards,

Abi

My fiance and I stayed here for 2 nights in January 2014. We were greeted by a very friendly and efficient receptionist. We stayed in a Castle View Room and as well as the incredible view of the castle from one window, we could also see right down the main street from another window which was lovely.
The room itself was luxurious, spacious and had a huge comfortable bed. There were magazines in our room to read, (GQ and Vogue), and we had complimentary glass bottles of water each day, along with complimentary luxury toiletries. We enjoyed being able to play music from our phones through the bluetooth speakers which were in both the bedroom and the bathroom. I was impressed that the hotel not only provided a decent hairdryer in the room, but also some GHD straightners. If I had known this I would have left mine at home and saved space in my bag, but I know now for next time. The bathroom was stylish, spacious and had a relaxing rainfall shower. We both had a great nights sleep both nights and we were surprised at how quiet the room was. The hotel is situated on the corner of a busy junction but we did not hear any traffic noise.
We ate breakfast in The Huxley restaurant on one morning and found this to be reasonably priced with delicious food.
We will definitely return at some point!

Room Tip: We stayed in a Castle View Room; it was amazing and well worth the money!

We stayed at the Rutland before Hogmanay and it was a fantastic hotel. Although it does not have a lot of rooms, I had a large room with a fantastic space and the ability to play music via bluetooth in the room. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

Hello "Joyride0011",

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review of your pre-Hogmanay stay with us at The Rutland Hotel!

We are very happy to hear that our team provided you with their insiders knowledge of hints and tips for Edinburgh during your visit, and that you enjoyed our swanky Bluetooth surround sound music player. Being able to play your own music while relaxing in your room or getting ready to enjoy the city, is always an extra special little bonus!

Many thanks again for your lovely feedback and we look forward to seeing you again when your next in Edinburgh.

Kind Regards,

Suzy

My partner and I travelled up to Edinburgh for a Christmas break and spent a night at The Rutland in one of the junior suites. The dark, designer decor may not be to everyone's taste but we absolutely loved it and were very reluctant to leave! The weather on our first day was awful but having such a stunning room to chill out in for the evening took away any disappointment. The complimentary chocolate muffins were a lovely touch too.

The central location couldn't have been better for exploring the area, yet the sound-proofed room meant the hustle and bustle outside went unnoticed. The only fault we could find was that the designer sink was very much form over function. I defy anyone to wash their hands in it and not get irritated!

All of the staff we encountered at the hotel during our stay were charming and helpful. We also had an excellent breakfast in the attached Huxley Bar and received the same high level of service.

if you're after a spot of luxurious self-indulgence, a stay at The Rutland could be just what you're looking for.

Hello "Bradders75",

Thank you very much for the review of your stay with us in our lovely Junior Suite last month.

Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee sunny skies, especially up here in Scotland but we are very glad to hear that you made the most of this opportunity to enjoy your complimentary muffins and lovely Suite!

It is a very nice surprise to many of our guests that we are spoiled with such as super central location minus the unwelcome noise that usually goes hand in hand with it. Getting the best of both worlds is definitely something to be happy about!

Thank you for your comments on Room 6's sink. We have now addressed this so next time you can enjoy your tasty breakfast in The Huxley with super clean hands, irritation free!

We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Kind Regards,

Suzy

Thank you "Jaydenalan21" for such a lovely review!

Our hotel is indeed in a prime location for getting access to the array on shops that Princes Street has to offer (almost too prime with the tempting sales that are on right now!).

We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed our quirky decor twists throughout the building and that you were well looked after throughout your stay!

We also hope that you managed to embrace the popular photo opportunity on one of our thrones before you left, and we look forward to welcoming you back next time.

Kind Regards,

Suzy

Stayed here for one night the weekend before Christmas, we booked one of the two junior suites (room 6).
Was greeted by friendly staff and taken up to our room where a quick show around of appliances etc took place.
The room was beautiful, spacious and had everything you needed.
With a view of the castle and of Princes Street, however noise was no issue.
The room had a mini bar stocked up, GHD straighteners, hair dryer, bath robes and even candles in the bathroom.....ideal for a relaxing bath in the spa bath with music playing on the Bluetooth surround sound!!
We did not get breakfast included in the price we paid but we opted for the room service breakfast which was very reasonable prices and unlike most hotels a tray charge was not applied.
Upon check out they stored our bags for us in the luggage storage facilities till we left later in the day.
Beautiful boutique hotel, immaculately presented public areas and even nicer rooms.
Will be back!
Thank you

Set just at the end of Princes Street it was ideally located for our short city break.

The staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating and genuinely seemed keen to help. Decor was quirky and the rooms were clean and quiet with very comfortable beds. Nice touches such as the muffins waiting for you on the bed and the variety of soaps in the toilet. The odd bit of rough finish here and there and like any hotel I'd suggest avoiding the minibar.

We had a delicious cooked breakfast in the Huxley bar which is tastefully decorated and nice for a drink later on. The Kyloe restaurant was also excellent, both in terms of style and quality.

The only downside is rating this hotel positively as we don't want anyone else to know about it! - we will certainly be back, loved it.
