“Excellent apartment and hotel service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2012

I stayed here with family in their great apartment for 2 nights. It's our first stay in Edinburgh and it was very pleasant. The apartment was very well equipped (TV's in every room, flat screen in lounge, Nespresso coffee machine with a huge range of capsules, microwave, cooker, oven, etc.) and had 2 double bedrooms and a sofabed in the lounge. I think the only thing missing was a draining board for the cups/plates we washed! I was ill on the last night and my parents asked reception for directions to a pharmacy and they said not to worry about checking out on time as there's nobody staying in there the following night which was very much appreciated! The only real problem we had was with parking - the nearest parking option we found was an NCP car park (Castle Terrace) and it was quite expensive at £26 per 24 hours. The hotel offered free breakfast (full Scottish) one morning for all of us in the attached bar which was very good - there's a coupon on tripadvisor for this. Very enjoyable experience and definitely will be staying here next time I'm in Edinburgh.

Room Tip: If staying in a group, their apartment is recommended for up to around 6 people.

Stayed here in August last year for our anniversary and had an amazing time.
This hotel ticks all the boxes and is very Glam and stylish.
We had an executive room for a few nights that was spacious and very well designed with hints of red, the only downside was no bath, but the shower room was lovely.
We enjoyed the minibar and liked the fact that the hotel provided straighteners (although they should really clean these between guests as they were dirty when we arrived).
The food was great, we ate in the restaurant and had breakfast here and the cocktails were good too.
We booked a package that included tours of the city that was good value, and the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to help.
My husband was actually sick when we were here (we don't think this was caused by the hotel) and they were very accommodating and allowed us a late checkout at no charge.
Definitely worth a stay if you are in the area.

Excellent hotel, great location, very helpful friendly staff.
Dont let the outside of the hotel put you off staying there.
Superb rooms, lovely decor and a nice cocktail bar down stairs.
Lots of bars on Rose Street to visit....... it runs parallel to Princess street.
If you want to really push the boat out eat at the Angels with Bagpipes restaurant.
It's on the Royal Mile, expensive but worth every penny.

My wife to be and I stayed at this highly recommended hotel for her Birthday weekend.
Fabulous Suite with a great view of the Castle (shame it was such a small window ,room 12).

The staff were fantastic and very helpful with a genuine smile on their faces always...
Bar downstairs was always busy with trendy financial district types.

he Kyloe restaurant upstairs was the best eating experience of my life (those chips cooked in beef dripping/ MY GOD ! AWESOME).

By the way ! I love this Hotel and will definately stay again and again....

Room Tip: Rooms were extremely hot, get a room with a large window if available....Room 12 had a tiny window...

Just came back from a great stay at The Rutland in Edinburgh. What can I say?? Great big beautiful rooms, with a big bath, really neat and clean, with the most helpful, smiling and friendly staff!! Breakfast is great, the beds are really good - there is nothing to fault on this hotel! And please try the Kyloe Restaurant for the steaks, you will not regret it!! Just remember to tell them that you stay in the hotel so that you get your 20 % discount :) Oh, and they also pull out the extras, because I had mentonied that it was our tenth year anniversary they had put a bottle of wine and a great big rose in our room upon arrival, at no extra charge, it totally made me speechless. The hotel is situated in a great place, you just step out and you are on the main shopping street, and you are also just a couple of minutes walk away from the castle and Royal Mile ( it is uphil to the castle , so regardless where you live, you will break a sweat;D ). I have stayed at luxury boutique hotels in Paris and Vienna too, but this is by far the best. Try it- you want regret it, and if you do- you are simply too picky ;D

We stayed at the hotel's apartment just down the road from the hotel. It is very tastefully decorated and with excellent equipment - TVs, WLAN etc. The main attraction, however, is the friendly and helpful service provided by the staff both in the hotel and the steak restaurant where we had a very good meal.

The location of the hotel couldn't be better for getting around Edinburgh.

All in all a very well run hotel.
