Jimmy and Fiona greeted us as if welcoming us into their home. The two rooms we reserved were beautifully decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was very filling and well prepared. We took advantage of the guest lounge several times - a warm and cosy room. Glenalmond House is located close to the bus line and within easy walking distance of several great places to eat. All in all a great place to stay.

We spent several nights at the Glenalmond, and were generally pleased.. It is some way from the city centre, hence suitable if you are arriving by car (nobody in his right mind would want to drive in Edinburgh proper). It is too far out for most people to walk into town, but there are frequent buses on the main road right in front of the hotel. Said buses and other traffic make quite a racket, so it would be prudent to book a room toward the back.
Though our room was on the small side, everything worked well. The breakfast is good and the owners are pleasant. We thought it slightly expensive for what it was, but then Edinburgh is a fairly expensive, if pleasant, city.
Our room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. There is parking available and it is possible to walk into the centre of Edinburgh or take one of the frequent buses. It is also possible to walk to a number of good restaurants. Newington is a beautiful part of Edinburgh with many lovely Victorian properties although Mayfield road is a main and noisy route for ambulances.
The rooms were lovely and very clean but considerably small (downstairs) given the price. We were not made to feel particularly welcome by the main host on at least a couple of occasions... We stayed for just under a week in the high season and couldn't find alternative accommodation.
Beautifully furnished in keeping with the age of the Hotel. Spotlessly clean, home cooked breakfast the choice being wide and varied. Thanks to Fiona and Jimmy for looking after us and for all your local knowledge. It's on a main road into the city with buses every few minutes, fare being £1.60 or £4 for all day pass. We were in a side room with a four poster bed,room 7. Ensuite shower room was modern and spotless. Tea/coffee/bottled water and wi-fi. Have no hesitation in recommending Glenalmond.
Lovely bed and breakfast just situated 30 minute walking distance from the City Centre right beside Edinburghs Commonwealth pool and short drive from Arthur's Seat. Host Jimmy and partner were lovely would definetly be back
