Some Premier Inns tend to be much of a muchness; this one stands above the crowd. For the Edinburgh tourist it's very central - walking distance to the main attractions – and the staff are very helpful and slick. Our bicycles were accommodated in a staff office without fuss, and our double room was clean, comfortable and quite spacious - slightly larger than other Premier Inns I've stayed in. The lifts are a bit disconcerting; you put your keycard in and nothing happens for a while; when we got in, the lift sat there for a while, then the doors opened again... go figure. The restaurant is all right for coffee but we ate elsewhere. All in all I'd say you get more for your money than you'd expect.

We stayed here for one night in October as a short break in the capital. Room was spacious with double bed and large sofa. Staff were helpful and made us aware of offers. They took our luggage early which let us wander about without trailing a case. Good location within walking distance of the city centre

Room Tip: We were in a family room which was very roomy

We booked a short stay for two nights - family of four in a quad room, two adults, two children. Room was spacious even with a double bed and two singles, and we were given the room a couple of hours before official checkin time which was a big help. We found the staff extremely pleasant and helpful throughout our stay, and were very happy to give good service, for example, we asked for more coffee in the room and they brought a generous replacement pack of coffee, tea, milk etc; we were able to leave bags after check out in the luggage room, and one staff member, Eva, was particularly helpful as I thought I might have dropped my watch in a taxi and she tracked down the taxi and had the driver search the cab and called me back to explain what had been done, she was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is pretty good and we ate once in the restaurant in the evening which was reasonable. Overall a great hotel - fairly centrally located - and extremely friendly and helpful staff and very good value for families (children get free breakfast, for example).

This has to be the most comfortable bed ever. Very clean hotel and food was super. The hotel was very busy as it was a rugby weekend but the staff took it all in their strive.Great rooms and big comfy bed. very clean and tidy also. Very good value also. Will return and will use the chain of hotels when in other cities in the UK.

Have stayed here for a weekend with girlfriends when we were booked to see a show and it is ideal for a short stay. Great beds and clean bathrooms. The staff were friendly and the bar was still serving when we returned so we had a drink to finish off the night in the comfy lounge area. Would recommend booking well in advance if you know you are planning a trip as we have a weekend planned for December and booked well in advance and got the rooms for a bargain price of £29!

Conveniently located for conference centre, 15 minute walk to Rose Street and Princes St. the hotel has the basic essentials at a reasonable price. Nothing fancy but nothing run down, or low quality. Clean room, clean carpets, clean sheets.. No problem in that regard.

Air conditioning could be set up to 25 degrees but there was an additional heater in the room. Also there is a heater in the bathroom.

In the room you find a kettle, tea, coffee, however there is no fridge. You get no fancy toiletiries but soap, shower gel/shampoo is there.

You pay for the room when you arrive. You get a 30 minute free wifi internet per 24 hrs, but also can purchase for longer periods.

The breakfast was also alright, although the coffee could be a lot better. You find typical English breakfast at good quality plus fresh fruits, croissant, jam, yogurt and so on.

The neighbourhood is good. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel. You can reach to decent pubs and restaurants with in minutes.

Good value for money. No frills but kept well. Excellent for business trip or sight seeing but not for a honeymoon.

I think I have reviewed more than a dozen hotels from different parts of the world. This hotel I rate as a '3' overall. The only thing that stands out is service, as the front office staff were very helpful. Rooms were very clean, though. Location is also a '3' since it is a bit far the Royal Mile and from Princes St, the most visited streets in Edinburgh though near to the Haymarket train station.
