Owner description: Holyrood Park is a unique historic landscape in the heart of the city, whose dramatic crags and hills give Edinburgh its distinctive skyline. Within the park is a wealth of history and archaeology spanning thousands of years. Arthur's Seat is one of four hill forts, dating from around 2,000 years ago. As well as it's rich cultural heritage, the park offers walks, solace, wildlife, volcanic geology and unparalleled vistas of the city from its many vantage points.

“Good but to big to see in one visit”

This is a large park south of the Palace of Holyrood. It is simple huge, and contains Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Craig. We climbed to the top from where I was able to see it all. There is a large running track around this park with lots of nice trees and lakes. It is nice place to get some fresh air in the middle of the city.

“Never tire of this magical gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

Within easy walking distance of the Royal Mile. As you distance yourself from the hustle and bustle of the City and approach the park you feel a huge sense of relief and calm engulf you

This is a magnificent, huge park from which brilliant views can be enjoyed, without walking up to either Arthur's Seat or Salisbury Crags.Having never been a jogger, I found myself looking forward to enjoying regular jogs around and all through and around this park, whatever the weather.

It covers a vast area with Arthurs's Seat in the middle, Salisbury Crags on one side, the views and scenery never disappoint. I often wandered to the lake below St Anthony's Chapel Ruins and spent many a happy hour watching all the birds especially the graceful swans.

Holyrood Park is my favourite place in Edinburgh. It's magical going there when there's thick mist/fog and the visibility is poor too, has a very eerie atmosphere.

“Popular and with good reason!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

This park is great. It's big and beautiful, with lots of lakes. It seems to be a hit with locals as well as tourists... I saw quite a few joggers and dog walkers.

It's amazing that this is so close to Edinburgh (I walked from my accommodation) and it of course provides spectacular views of the city.

Try to find a map as I (and several others I ran into) struggled to find Arthur's seat.
