I went to Edinburgh with my girlfriend for a long weekend and we found this restaurant listed online prior to our visit. We had never tried Phillipino food before so we were intrigued. The location is very hidden but its well worth checking out if you fancy trying a restaurant thats a bit different. As mentioned in previous reviews its run by a really friendly couple from the Phillipines. The prices of the dishes on offer are really cheap, so cheap in fact that we were expecting the portion sizes to be almost tapas-like...Wrong! the portions were massive and every dish we ordered tasted lovely. The service was spot on - friendly and attentive and we were both really impressed. We tried several restaurants of different cuisine types during our long weekend and Rice Terraces was the cheapest and the most enjoyable by far! If we ever return to Edinburgh we will definately return to this fantastic restaurant. Can't recommend it enough.

Good menu with happy and pleasant staff. Informal Filippino "Canteena" style dining with well prepared dishes. It deserves support and success.

Made us feel right at home. The owners (a gorgeous smiley couple) were there and couldn't have been more friendly. The 8 course Kamayan menu was so fun and tasty and it felt like someone had invited you into their home for a (an exotic and well presented) meal. The Halo Halo desert was creative and fun my Turon desert was delicious too. Brilliant and will definitely be back! See you soon guys:-)

We went for a collagues leaving do. The restaurant is more like a cafe and pretty small, compising of our group, plus maybe another 6 tables. The restaurant was very busy later on in the evening - so is obvioulsy a popular local place to eat in. The food was very tasty. The majority of the group opted for a banquet - which looked good value for money. However, those of us who opted for single dishes were left waiting around for 2 hours before the mains arrived. The main courses if you don't take the set meals, come to a reasonable £5.95 or thereabouts. With the rice at either £1.00 or £1.50 for fried rice you can eat fairly cheaply here.

This was my first and only experience with Filipino food and it was wonderful! We did the meat Kamayan menu, which is fantastic value for your money.

While everything was very tasty, the highlights were the Beefsteak Tagalog (beef with onions, soy & a lime marinade) and Espinadas (spinach with carrot, onion and cabbage). The pork stuffed squid looks amazing but that will have to wait until my next visit.

Rice Terraces is a wonderful little restaurant and my only regret is I didn't find it sooner. It's off the beaten path so people are unlikely to stumble upon it without looking, but it's not a long walk from the main tourist areas and is definitely worth searching out. It's really great, I highly recommend!
