A comfortable retreat, with comfortable seats, serving a good choice of Scottish dishes, including cullen skink, haggis and cranachan, as well as pies and fish. Reasonably priced, delicious, and very friendly staff.

Had lunch in The Conan Doyle with two friends on Saturday and can highly recommend it. It was spotlessly clean, the food was fantastic and the staff friendly and very helpful. The wine was chilled to perfection and the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I've tasted. Two courses each and a bottle of Proseco set us back £20.00 per person!!! Great value. Well worth a visit.... we will be back!!!

Went for lunch here when staying at the Holiday Inn Express across the road. Just walking by, we noticed their £6 lunch menu which comprised a main course and included a drink.

The bar was very quiet with few patrons (end of January). However, our lunch was excellent. Nine choices from the menu. My husband who is plain eater had grilled chicken and chips, quite acceptable. I had the smoked haddock mornay which was lovely. The drink option included a glass of wine (175ml), pint of beer or a soft drink from the bar taps. Anything in bottled form is not included.

The young lady serving us was pleasant. Comfortable seating and nice atmosphere.

When we're back in Edinburgh, we will probably revisit.
