We were out on Saturday 1st June celebrating a birthday at this bar, usually such a great place. As the end of a great evening drew to a close, one bartender yelled for the attention of all of us “peasants” (his words), and proceeded to yell that one customer had just tipped more than everyone else in the bar, and that we should all be ashamed. He then rang a bell over and over whilst yelling, “Shame! Shame!”
I think the only “shame” is this entitled, pompous idiot ruining what should be a friendly, safe space, and ensuring no one will want to return, let alone tip him.

It was all meant in jest. The ringing of the bell and the "Shame, Shame" was a reference to Game Of Thrones.
We've had a chat and decided that we will reduce the level of merriment from now on.
Was this the same birthday party when we rang the bell and got EVERYONE in the bar to sing Happy Birthday?
We initially called into The Regent for lunch and a pint. A predominantly LGBT+ bar (but evidently very straight-inclusive) that serves real ale is a rare thing and to be cherished but The Regent also scores for good quality food in generous portions at great prices, friendly staff and a warm, inclusive atmosphere. Our night out on the town soon brought us back to The Regent because - well, why wouldn't it? Back again for a second night and good fun time spent talking with locals. Love the place.

A proper pub with a variety of seating areas, you can tuck yourself away á deux or be in a group at a table. Dog and Straight friendly. Great staff, efficient, friendly and always working.
I go to The Regent each time I’m in town and it never disappoints. An example of how a bar should be. Other, lesser, publicans should take notes.

A nice cheerful gay bar. I didn't think they existed any more. Great friendly staff and a nice civilised vibe. I'd strongly recommend it

This place is just a diamond on the Edinburgh pub scene. Great atmosphere and decor. Great Real Ale and really good food. The staff sometimes need encouraging but that is not to the detriment off this really nice place. The owner is a complete gentleman and loves to here feedback good and bad and is very attentive to his customers needs and feelings. I would recommend this place to everyone. Really close the Holyrood palace and the park and to Scotland’s parliament building. Has a park right across the road. Dogs are really welcome and there are loads. My Long Haired Chihuahua loves this place and so do we.

This is my favourite pub in the city. First, it's an LGBTQ pub and is friendly and welcoming to all. I love that it's not too noisy, and especially in the back room, you don't have to yell or worry about not hearing the person on the other end of the table. I also love dogs and you are guaranteed to meet a very cute and very friendly dog at every visit. Friendly staff and OK drink selection, and you can get a tea or hot chocolate if you don't feel like alcohol. One downside is that their food is really bland and overpriced, so although they do have gluten free and veg options, I'd recommend it as a place to drink and chat, not to eat. More areas for improvement- they still have gender segregated toilets (not great practice for an LGBTQ venue), it's not wheelchair accessible, and they don't allow kids.
