Owner description: Arthur's Seat is one of four hill forts, dating from around 2,000 years ago. Situated within Holyrood Park, as well as it's rich cultural heritage, the park offers walks, solace, wildlife, volcanic geology and unparalleled vistas of the city from its many vantage points. The park has several Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) designations due to its exceptional range of grassland habitats and its internationally important volcanic geology. Ranger service on site.

“Beautiful - leave time to get lost :)”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

I had a heck of a time actually finding the entrance to Arthur's Seat because I was walking from my hotel, and the hill itself doesn't really have signs to point you on your way, so I would go with someone who knows the trails or at least leave a few hours of time so that you can wander at your leisure. The views are absolutely incredible, and the hike was challenging but fun. I am a runner and thought it was a workout, so I wouldn't recommend it for a casual walker - try Calton Hill for that!

“A bit of a climb but great views”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

There's a paved path that takes you a lot of the way into the park but obviously not to the top. Quite a climb but stunning views over the city.

“Thanks Jim and Mary!”

I have no prior experience in hiking, I just went up for it is something I should go in Edinburg.

I almost give up at the tip part of the hill, but I was truly lucky to have met a couple who are both hiking coach, they lend me gloves, hiking sticks, pull me up to the hill. That's how I have the amazing view up there, seeing the Edinburg Castle to be so tiny.

It can be dangerous to get up when it is raining, for the ground gets really slippery. And Scotland weather is always changing. I would advise to bring sufficient hiking equipments, and a good camera.

“Easy enough walk with spectacular views!”

Absolutely loved it, and i'm someone who's terrified of heights! There were loads of kids there too who got to the top and were well able for it! The views of the city and the whole area are amazing!
