Owner description: Arthur's Seat is one of four hill forts, dating from around 2,000 years ago. Situated within Holyrood Park, as well as it's rich cultural heritage, the park offers walks, solace, wildlife, volcanic geology and unparalleled vistas of the city from its many vantage points. The park has several Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) designations due to its exceptional range of grassland habitats and its internationally important volcanic geology. Ranger service on site.

It is the most amazing scenery I have ever seen. It is hard to climb up to the top if you are not in shape, but it totally worth it.

What a fabulous hike! We were dropped off via cab from our hotel at the parking lot of Holyrood Palace, and walked to the right. This is the steep way up, lots of steps, but a good workout and great views of Edinburgh, the Castle and the Firth of Forth. It’s worth it to make it to very top, great lookout point. We then walked down the back side, easy sloping fields, gorgeous gold grasses and purple heather to a pond with ducks and swans.
We wore hiking and walking shoes, shorts and multiple layers from a t-shirt to a fleece vest to a windbreaker, as the top is extremely windy. Great photo opportunity!

Nice climb with beautiful views of the city and the Firth of Forth. Take a lunch and prepare for the wind.

One of the best things we had done during our trip! Completely memorable. Great city views and then you turn a corner and it feels like you are out in the country. Bring lots of water and maybe a snack as this hike is worth the time!
