The quick climb up Arthur's Seat offers a commanding 360 degree view of Edinburgh and its surrounding area. Situated in the amazing Holyrood Park, Arthur's Seat is one of the top things about Edinburgh. There are many different trails to the top to give a more or less vigorous scaling. Depending on your fitness and choice of trail, you can be at the top in 15 to 45 minutes and a quicker decent.

Arthur's Seat is one of the seven traditional hills within Edinburgh city limits, each which gives a grand view from very different parts of the city (the other six are: Castle Rock, Calton Hill, Corstorphine Hill, Braid Hills, Craiglockhart Hill, and Blackford Hill).

Arthur's Seat is a great getaway from the city bustle, providing great panoramic views of the Firth and the city. If you want to feel the fresh mountain air on your face but don't have time to get to the Highlands, make the trek up!

You need to climb a long way to arrive at this historic place. At the top you will however have a breathtaking view to the city.

We had a lovely hike up Arthur's Seat that was dotted by frequent asthma attacks. Through a fluke there was very little rain in the week we spent in Edinburgh, which meant the wheatgrass and wild flowers were in full force. What should have been an 45-60 minute climb took an hour and a half.

Still the view was worth it. If you're in Edinburgh see Arthur's Seat, but take your allergy medication first.

Definitely make a point of climbing to the top of Arthur's seat. The views are stunning and its very peaceful up there. A must visit especially if you are a fan of the book 'one day'. A perfect end to our sunny day in Edinburgh!
