Owner description: Arthur's Seat is one of four hill forts, dating from around 2,000 years ago. Situated within Holyrood Park, as well as it's rich cultural heritage, the park offers walks, solace, wildlife, volcanic geology and unparalleled vistas of the city from its many vantage points. The park has several Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) designations due to its exceptional range of grassland habitats and its internationally important volcanic geology. Ranger service on site.

better to visit on nice weather. since there are no place to hide on the hill and it may get quite windy as well. but there are very good view once you reach the top of the hill which may take you around 30-45 minutes.

Arthur's Seat is well worth climbing; the views from the summit are superb. You don't need to be super fit, but beware that some of the paths are tricky in places. A few points to note: (1) it's windy at the top so wear suitable clothing, (2) wear suitable shoes, and (3) it's highly inadvisable to climb in hours of darkness unless you are very well prepared - be particularly careful if ascending at dusk as it will probably be dark during your descent.

It was a bit of a trek for me as someone who isn't the fittest. But it was amazing, the views are outstanding. I would highly recommend this as every visitors first outing... Climb to the top and decide from there what you want to see next... Tie everything down, it is very windy...

Be prepared as some of it can be quite strenuous but once you get up to the top, the views are fabulous and it's worth the exercise.

This is the first time I've made it here as the weather was alright. The signs to Arthur's seat were not very apparent (may have been the route we walked) buy the views when we got to the top were amazing. I think it would have been nice to have a bit more signs or timings to the top as there were a few people who wanted to go up at 7pm and weren't sure if they could get to the top before it got dark and the descent would have been a bit dangerous.

If you like views, photography or walking I would highly recommend. If you don't you can get quite good views from the Castle but not as good as here.
