My husband booked this boutique hotel for us as a nice getaway for out first wedding anniversary, it came recommended by a friend. We decided to go for a executive or "royal mile" room as they call it as we wanted to have the room that came with a bath. We arrived a bit early and were told the room wasnt ready, the man who greeted us offered us a complimentary drink which was a nice touch. After waiting 30 mins we were given our key and made our way up to the room (note there isnt a lift in this property so would we unsuitable for the infirm or wheelchair users). We entered the room, which was small but lovely to find that there was no bath. The housekeepers were hoovering outside so we explained to them that this wasnt the room we had paid for, only to have a reply of "dont ask me im only the housekeeper". Charming!! We called reception and after waiting in the room for about 20 mins the housekeeper appeared with another key for a room one floor up. We trudged up the stairs to be faced with a slightly larger room with a small bath, the executive room advertised had a fee standing large bath. My husband still wasnt inpresssed and decided to complain again, we felt that as this place isnt cheap we should get what we paid for, So another key and anther flight of stairs and we got the room we wanted. The rooms are beautiful, huge comfy bed and the bathrooms are kitted out to the highest standard. The ipod docking station and cable tv are a nice bonus. I was particularly impressed with the hairdryer and GHD's which come as standard. Also the mini bar was well stocked and had nice local sweets included. We never ate in the pub downstairs but we saw the food come out and it looked the part, The bed was super comfy and we got a decent nights sleep despite the church clock chiming away all night!! Although we had a shaky start we would definately stay here again and its worth getting the larger room just for the bath alone....................
