I had a wonderful 4 days at this hotel. I had found it online and when I walked in- it was instantly charming and pleasant. My room was on the very top floor and was sweet, comfortable and welcoming.
The lounge on the ground floor was very enjoyable: honour bar, satellite television, comfortavle "lounge-y" furniture, large windows.
The breakfast was also lovely, filling, well portioned and served by friendly staff.

We stayed a couple of nights at this hotel and it is very nice and spacious. The manageress was extremely helpful and friendly, like an old friend. Rooms where large and well appointed. There were some nice little touches like Scottish brandy and shortbread in the room as a welcome. Bathroom was a nice size too. Rooms were warm which is of course a must.

Breakfast choices were great from cereals, cold meats, fruit and a hearty Scottish cooked breakfast. All served in the nice front room of the hotel.

There is a relaxation lounge with fire place also on the ground floor.

We needed to take a short quick bus ride to the centre of town. Fortunately the bus stop is simply across the road from the hotel. The host told us which bus to catch and the cost was only about one pound. Our host also gave us tips on things to do and see. She was quite knowledgeable.

The hotel is in a good location and because it is just a little from the town centre it makes it quite affordable too and you still get all the nice trimmings.

We had a wonderful stay. It was freezing outside and this was a haven with a roaring fire and warm, comfortable bedrooms. The decor was beautiful, and the staff were attentive and friendly. We had delicious food in Matthew's restaurant the most tender fillet steak I ahve ever eaten.

My partner and I booked the Kildonan Lodge on late rooms as a last minute overnight for christmas shopping and a show in edinburgh. We booked the 4 poster room with spa bath! When we arrived at the hotel the girl who checked us in was lovely - giving us a little tour and advising us about taxi fares etc. The room itself was lovely - maybe a little tired in some places but nevertheless beautiful! The huge bed was extremely comfortable and the bath was just what I needed after a day christmas shopping! When we were heading out the receptionist phoned us a taxi no problems and on our return we went into the honesty bar for a quick drink before bed. We both had a great sleep and a lovely breakfast in the morning!

We would definately book this hotel again

My wife stayed here last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was warm, clean and tidy and the huge bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed the spa bath, nice and relaxing after a day in the city. The staff were welcoming, polite and very helpful during our stay. Hotel is situated a short bus ride from city centre, the manager provided a useful card with all the bus numbers on it. We ate in Matthews on the second evening, lovely food and well served. Breakfast was superb, though kept away from the haggis!!Will stay here again if we return to Edinburgh
