“Recently refurbished hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2014

Hotel is recently refurbished, so has a nice new, clean look. However, room was only part furnished - half the room was completely empty ! It did contain everything I needed though.

Room could have done with being checked over before being let out, issues with shower tray and power sockets, which was mentioned to the staff (so hopefully should get rectified).

Hotel is about 1 mile from the city centre, but easily accessible, by foot, taxi or bus. Hotel is close to Inverleith Park (the start of the Moonwalk - which was why it was chosen). For a budget hotel offered good services and also has a nice café/ bar in the basement.

If you are booking online buy breakfast at the time of booking, as it is £2 cheaper to do this, and as with any Travelodge, don't forget toiletries !

If I was doing Edinburgh Moonwalk again, I would stay in this hotel. I was also given a lovely quiet room (no view though), at the back of the hotel on the ground floor.

The other nice thing is hotel is on a residential street, and the property has been very sympathetically converted into a hotel. However this does mean no huge visible signs outside the property, just plain window etching and door signs.

Rooms were great at a reasonable price, breakfast was good and staff were friendly. However, the hotel was difficult to find walking from Princes St after dinner. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Seriously, how can this place have so many positive reviews? Well yes, if you get a room for 29 pound it is a bargain and the rooms are large, that's about all the good things I can say about this dump. Our lower basement room at the very end of the hotel had a really weird layout and no shelves, 2nd chair or else to put your personal belongings like in other travelodges. The bathroom was quite dirty, especially the windows haven't been cleaned in this century. The door is a joke, a gap of 2 inches on every side made us feel like sleeping right on the corridor with noises coming from every single corner. We will not stay here again.

We booked 2 family rooms as we were coming with our 2 daughters and their friends to go and see One Direction! The rooms were huge and spotlessly clean the staff were very helpful and friendly so much so that when we arrived back from the concert tired and hungry they offered us room service which I was very pleased with as reasonably priced and delicious! Not only that but the kids also got to eat breakfast for free which again I cannot fault it was a buffet of cooked breakfast selection of pastries cereal and fruit very fresh and moreish! ! No doubt if Edinburgh bound again will definitely book in here again!!

Poor value for money consider already such a low price...one towel for two people definitely not enough.Awful toilet with bad flooring. Rooms definitely need some improvement. On the positive note friendly staff at reception desk.

The hotel is in a grand stone terrace in a leafy part of Edinburgh, only ten minutes from Princes Street. The welcome is warm and friendly, the rooms are spacious. Some traffic noise is the only snag.

We stayed here for 3 nights, the room was bit on the small side but nice firm bed.not much room to put anything by your bed side.No extacter fan in the bathroom.good value for money.Bus stop is opposite the hotel, very convenient for going into the center.
