Again another lovely trip, this hotel is great if you are shopping on princes street as its inbetween jenners and m&s so you can go back as many times as you like with your bags. I stayed 2 nights and again could not fault anything. Can't wait for next years trip when I'll be back.

Food and service are given top marks with staff there to help you with any problems. Our room was a good size and had everything you needed in. Well done

With Princess Street up again for repair of the trams - take a taxi (if you need one) to South St David Street - Jenners shop is at the bottom of the street and the hotel is 50 yards from Jenners.
Taxi drivers at Waverley Station told me you cannot get a taxi to hotel - hence above instructions.
Up till Sept 30th the Hotel was called Ramada Jarvis Mount Royal - now taken over by Mercure group - who I was told are to spend a few million pounds on an upgrade - which some of the hotel needs.
Very relaxing lounge and bar overlooking Pricess Street.
Dinner excellent cooked and served food which was very good value for money; likewise breakfast which has such a variety of food it will keep you going all day.
Little noise from the tram repairs during the day.
Book early to get a room looking out to Edinburgh castle which is floodlit at night.
Waverley train station is 5 minutes away likewise the bus station but no parking for cars and 6 minutes from Playhouse Theatre.
Would definitely go back again

Room Tip: Book early for dinner to get a table overlooking Pricess Street and the Castle

We stayed at this hotel for a girly weekend away. It's in a fantastic location, bang in the middle of Princess Street. Everything you need for a girls weekend is on your doorstep; 2 minutes walk to Zara, H&M, All Saints etc., not to mention Jenners which is next door! Plus it's only a 2 minute walk to the trendy cocktail bars in George Street, perfect after a night on the tiles in 4 inch heels!

Couldn't fault this hotel, yes it's dated in places but as it's just been taken over by Mercure, changes will no doubt be afoot. The views from the bar and restaurant are jaw dropping.

The hotel is immaculate, the food superb and great value (we had room service at 2am!), and the staff are warm and welcoming. What more could you ask for?

This hotel has probably got the best location of all in the heart of the city - right on Princes Street, They must be the envy of every other Edinburgh city hotel! Consequently every thing is within walking distance.

Saying that, it is an odd place. Reception is on the first floor and the entrance is easily missed. The rooms, and general decor throughout, are a little drab and it looks a little (in places) like a throw back to the 1970's.

But it's clean and that is what counts.

Their breakfast however is truly superb. I went down not expecting much really only to find the food excellent, helpings (it is self service) generous and the operation very efficent. Would highly recommend the breakfast.

All in all a decent hotel - and superb locaton and breakfast!

The Mercure Edinburgh Mount Royal is located very nicely for most activities in and around Edinburgh. It's on Princes Street just across from Princes Street garden with a nice view up towards the castle. Waverly train station is 5 minutes by foot.
the rooms were clean and what one would expect from a Mercure Hotel. For our taste the mattresses were a bit soft. The service staff was very friendly and helped us immediately with what little we needed of them.

I recently stayed at the Mercure hotel with my boyfriend for his birthday. When we arrived, we found it difficult to locate the hotel as the name changed from Ramada to Mercure. We were unaware of this and ended up searching up and down Princes Street. The hotel seemed nice and the staff were friendly and willing to help. The bedroom had a fantastic view of the castle, it was quiet at night but it was on the small side. Generally the hotel was outdated, the bar and restaurant needs to be re-decorated but the views again, were amazing. The bathroom had a great shower and was clean. But the towels were not changed daily and we ended up having to ask each day for clean towels. Overall a pleasant stay.
