We booked an extra large room and it was superb, except that the wardrobe drawers couldn't open up properly because the bed was in the way. The difficulties of putting large modern beds into old properties. Room had everything we needed - even a night-light in the bathroom which is something more properties should pick up on. (I usually travel with my own). Edinburgh was hot (yes!) and it was good to get back to the property after a long day. Would stay here again, as it's position was excellent and so were the staff.

We simply can not fault The Scotsman Hotel, Edinburgh. From the moment we arrived we received the highest level of service and our room was glorious, with a fantastic view across North Bridge. Throughout our stay the staff were attentive and just lovely with such attention to detail making our honeymoon in Edinburgh, perfect. I can not recommend this hotel enough and we very much look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Room 713 was lovely with a fantastic view and small turret office area which was really unique.

My favorite hotel of any I've ever stayed in (including the Savoy, the St, Moritz and the Waldorf.
Beautiful, spacious rooms. Excellent staff that really seems to care (none of this "trained politeness"). They will do everything to be helpful.
Great views in the heart of Edinburgh.
When you're in your room you feel even more like you're in the heart of the city than when you're out walking around.
I was sad to leave!

Room Tip: Check out the possibilities: to view castle and Scot monument, or North Bridge and Calton Hill: all...

Thank you for taking the time to record your positive comments regarding your recent visit to the Scotsman Hotel. As you will be aware, normally avenues such as Trip Advisor are utilised for the negative aspects; making your kind words appreciated that little bit more.

We are very proud of the fact that each and every one of our staff knows the importance of making our guests feel special and I am pleased to see that you experienced the team’s professionalism and friendliness.

once again thank you for your kind words and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Wonderful stay in an architecturally interesting building. We had a two level room with two brilliant views of the city. Room was spacious and comfortable with an evening turn down service. Being relatively small service is personal which is nice. A couple of downsides, you have to pay for wifi which always loses a vote from me. The room we were in was looking a little tired with lots of scuff marks all over the walls and the carpets were well used. Great location though and a stay steeped in history!

Thank you for taking the time to record your positive comments regarding your recent visit to the Scotsman Hotel.
As the Scotsman, we were originally home to the famous Scotsman newspaper and are very proud that when the renovation took place to become the hotel it is today, a lot of the traditional features were kept. This means that all of our rooms are individually sized and styled giving a real feeling of originality and quality to all of our rooms and suites.
We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future.

My wife and I have just stayed at The Scotsman again for the fourth time, and I'm delighted to say it's still the best 5 star hotel in Edinburgh. Sadly all too often, hotels get complacent and let standards slip - thankfully this is not the case at The Scotsman.

All the hotel staff are extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The bedroom was fantastic - there aren't two rooms the same there and that makes it exciting each time you open the door to your room - definitely not the standardised approach.

Sadly we didn't get the time to enjoy the spa facilities this time, but they are absolutely outstanding. Overall a fabulous hotel and I can't wait to return again!

I stayed here on NYE 2012/2013 for 3 nights. Fantastic hotel! it was a birthday treat for me and a treat it was! Deserves every one of its 5 stars.

A beautiful building and classic original interior matched with modern design features looks great.

The location couldn't be better, the Royal Mile on one hand for the older part of the city and Princess Street the other side of the bridge for shopping.

The hotel has a fantastic spa which we used, a cinema (which we didn't) and a number of other amenities, all top class.

We ate in the restaurant on one evening and the food was outstanding. Great local produce which reflected the hotel itself, old classics with modern twists. The restaurant also has a well stocked bar with a great wine menu, we had a couple of cocktails which were great.

It's worth mentioning the staff were great too, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable of the city!

The hotel is by no means cheap (especially at new year) but I would say worth every penny and worth all of its 5 stars.

I would add that the Hogmany (NYE) was great but it is incredibly crowded on Princess Street and many of the other areas. My advice would be to find somewhere away from the crowds where you can still see the fireworks at the castle. You will spend hours queueing for the toilet/drinks/food which takes away the enjoyment of the NYE celebration itself.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this wonderful hotel.

My wife, Mrs. M is a perfectionist and for Mrs M to say how good the hotel was in every respect is certainly an excellent endorsement of any establishment as she usually finds fault with the majority of places. I must say however that Mrs M was not that impressed with the first room we were shown on arrival but after requesting and getting a transfer to a room with a view all was well with Mrs M and the room was excellent. The hotel could not be in a better location for exploring Edinburgh.

We cannot praise this hotel, the breakfast, the service and the helpful staff enough and suggest you read the other 'good' reviews on trip advisor that support my comments and give you a more eloquent résumé of a hotel that in my opinion is pure class and architecturally stunning!!!!

We hope to go there again.

Room Tip: Room 301 was excellent
