when i first booked this trip I was at once sent directions on how to find the hotel, which is a great help and accurate in a strange place. at once there was a warm and friendly welcome at the reception, all was explained, where and when meals and drinks could be taken. the room was a surprise (not a broom cupboard) clean and every you could want and if you wanted any extra pillows etc just ask at reception and they would do there best to help.
the food in the restaurant was also a great surprise it was freshly cooked very hot and tasted fantastic, (maybe the chef could do lessons to others in the group)
over all a great trip thank you all very much, and I will be back.

Sat in the foyer at 7 for the second fire alarm first was at 4. On check in found my room occupied by somebody else's suitcases. Water jug at dinner had a very dangerous chip (not food variety). Things can only improve....

Thank you for your feedback. Whilst I can understand your frustration of having 2 fire alarms during your stay I am sure you can appreciate that such occurrences are outwith our control. Our main priority is the safety and wellbeing of our guests and, as such, we cannot ever assume that an activation is a false alarm.
I am confused as to how luggage that did not belong to you found its way into your room and how a chipped water jug was used without this being noticed by a member of staff, please be assured that this is by no means our usual standard. Should you have the opportunity, please contact me directly on heather.unwin@braidhillshotel.co.uk with further details of your reservation in order for me to assess the situation further.

The hotel was part of the package offered by the travel company. What a wonderful surprise!! It was cute, clean and perfect for what we wanted. The best part of all was the help of Triona. She was wonderful and helped us get around perfectly. The breakfast was great and had a great bar to relax and talk about our day. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had a wonderful view. From a positive view, the was a very nice surprise and made our trip to Edinburgh a very memorable one.

Thought we had gone back in time to the Seventies as the place is long in the tooth now. The room we were given was shockingly small. The bed was miniscule for a couple, and the toilet was an embarassing tight squeeze. Breakfast was a hit & miss affair with poor quality on offer.
The WiFi was erratic and only decent in the main Reception.
Do not be fooled by the "Best Western" affiliation as this is a shambolic hotel!

Room Tip: Do not be misled by the other reviews - Avoid at all cost!

Very friendly hotel lovely staff who take a real interest in you. I booked a small room but was kindly given a larger twin much appreciated as it had plenty space. Floors a bit creaky but its an old hotel. No noise between the rooms. Breakfast lovely good selection of fruit and usual hot breakfast, all serve service though. I prefer that as it speeds things up a bit. Dining room staff knew their guests and went out of their way to make them feel very welcome. Only problem I had was I kept getting lost especially if I went up the wrong set of stairs. Rooms comfortable very clean and quiet.
Only flaw I could find was the early alarm call when the fire alarm went off at 6 15 am, oh well got us all up very effectively. Is not a central hotel but in a lovely part of Edinburgh.

We greatly enjoyed our recent stay at this Best Western, which we found through a discount travel program. . Our room was quiet, spacious and comfortable, the service was excellent, the staff was very attentive to our every need, and the food in the dining room was delicious. We also enjoyed its proximity to the Lothian bus stops right outside the front steps of the hotel, making our excursions into Edinburgh simple and inexpensive

We had a prepaid travel card & presented it when we checked. After getting home, we found out that they didn't deduct the units and charged our credit card. Unanswered email to the hotel. We have been trying to resolve this issue for 10 days. Room was small and bathroom floor was almost caved in near the shower. Not very happy now.
