Being new to Edinburgh, we chanced upon this AMAZING Indian restaurant on a street really close to the chaos of the Fringe Festival.
Standing outside we were looking at a menu trying to decide whether to go in when an older gentleman leaving the restaurant opened the door and told us we had to go inside for the best Indian he had ever had. High expectations took us inside and we were not let down at all.
The staff were incredibly attentive, professional and friendly, the food was all delicious, tasty, spicy (when requested) and was honestly the best Indian meal I can ever recall eating.
If you want the real deal in Edinburgh, you quite simply HAVE TO VISIT this place - you wont be disappointed.

We regularly visit Edinburgh and discovered this wonderful Indian earlier this year. Situated on Shandwick Place and in a restored Georgian building, wonderfully light and airy at the same time managing to maintain the beautiful original ceiling and other decorative features. The menu is different from all the other Indian restaurants around with a modern twist on regular favourites. We went again last week and were not disappointed, such a shame it is still penned off by the tram works. From the moment we walked into the restaurant to the moment we left we felt like special guests, as I'm sure did everyone dining that evening. The one dish we will definitely be having next time is the salmon tandoori, moist succulent fish in lovely spices. The highlight of the evening was when 16 rabbits and a carrot (Mancunian stag party) walked in. The staff didn't bat an eyelid, seated them to the rear of the restaurant and their manner and the wonderful food they serve definitely rubbed off on the celebrating party as, although enjoying themselves, they were surprisingly restrained:-)
Well done everyone at Kasturi, we will be back.

This place was great, really good fresh food and I loved the modern take on Indian cusine. I had the salmon tandoori, which was fab! You have all the favourites, but is mixed in with a contemporary British twist.
