With a bus stop outside the door it was easy to access the city. Naturally, that contributed to traffic noise but not offensive. We didn't realize there was no heat during the night but since the weather was mild it was not a problem, although we are early risers and had to bundle up before 8 a.m. The breakfast is the same daily and a few more offerings would have made a nice change.

Overall I have no complaints about the Abcorn although a travelling partner stayed in the single room which was like a box room with the tiniest bathroom/toilet I've seen, not comfortable at all. I stayed in a larger double room and everything was great. Fantastic service, lovely breakfast and good location, I would recommend it.

We've stayed at the Abcorn many times while visiting family and friends in Edinburgh, and on several occasions taken Festival-visiting friends with us. Family-run, by local people with excellent knowledge of the city and its attractions, it has become our 'home from home'.
The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, a warm welcome is assured, and the regular return of many guests is testament to a well-run establishment.

I booked at the Abcorn based partly on reviews and booked 2 nights, stayed one. It was clean enough but I found it depressing myself as did my Wife who is an unfussy person.
The decor was old, varnished pine bedside cupboards and headboard were very dated and the minimum has been spent and even then that was a long time ago. Even the breakfast was a tad Little Chef with its little quarters of fried bread.

Sort of very basic sea side B&B I would call it and for £70 a night there are much better places for your money. Pink walls, turquoise green carpets completed the effect of the 1960s bedroom. No I woudnt repeat the experience myself and I checked out the next day, some liked it obviously and thats fine but Ive had much better for my money and the owners need to think about a long overdue refurbish.

A polished brass step didnt quite cut it for me. Its on the road with many B&Bs, the location is ideal for the centre of Edinburgh but thats about the only positive I could say about it Im sorry.

The Abcorn is situated just over a miles walk away from the very heart of Edinburgh's attractions. It's a lovely place with really friendly owners and big comfy rooms. I think I stayed in the most comfortable bed ever!

The Abcorn was really clean, and we had great breakfasts, served with a smile and plenty of local knowledge. They have plenty of parking too which is a real bonus.

The hotel is right on a bus route to the centre of Edinburgh for those who aren't up to walking it.

All in all a great stay with fabulous hosts. Much recommended!
