Having paid a very modest amount for a Winterbreak 3 night stay ( in April) I was very impressed with the Apex European. It's well-placed near Haymarket station, it's modern and the staff are unfailingly helpful and friendly. It is thoroghly professional and everything seems well designed for efficiency and comfort. Yes, the bedroom could have been just a little bigger but the desk which incorporates a built in hair dryer, trouser press and little fridge with mineral water works well, as does the en-suite with huge walk shower. Comfortable beds. And having requested a quiet room we were well pleased with ours facing away from the main street. There's a good healthy selection at the buffet breakfast and cooked breakfasts are done to order. We ate in one night - a small menu but the food was well cooked and nicely presented. There are a couple of small function/conference rooms so there's a nice bustling mix of business and tourist guests . It's certainly not a luxury hotel but everything is geared to making you feel relaxed and looked after.

Room Tip: Our room on third floor facing away from the main street was very quiet.

We stayed here for a weekend break, we wasn't disappointed, the room was very modern, bathroom great , the bed was kingsize with fab feather pillows, a good selection of beverages & biscuits at no extra charge & a great scottish breakfast for £10 each was really good value for money.
With a 2minute walk from Haymarket train station.

At the moment there are a lot of road works making way for the trams, ready in summer 2014 however over the weekend there was no noise.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side have nice views.

Dear Janet,
Thank you for your review of the Apex European Hotel following your recent weekend break.
I was very pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay and took full advantage of your in room amenities and full breakfast in the hotel.
With the current tram works taking place at Haymarket Station, we are fortunate that our location means there is no noise disturbance any night of the week and look forward to the tram completion.
I hope we will welcome you back very soon.
Kind Regards
Vicky

I booked this hotel for one night only because I wanted somewhere cheap but relatively comfortable. I wasn't disappointed. The best part of the hotel is its bar and restaurant. Nice light bites. Staff were very helpful and I would stay here again if I was wanting a hotel in this area. It is not luxury but still good for a short stay.

We stayed here on an overnight trip to Edinburgh our room (402) was very compact but absolutely lovely boutique style it had everything you could possibly need on a short stay. The rooms and public areas are spotlessly clean and beds very comfortable. We also got a £10 voucher for booking online which we used in the bar prices were very reasonable. The cooked breakfast was outstanding. The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. They have a small car park but Haymarket Station is only a few minutes walk away. The streets surrounding are all metered (£2 per hour max stay 4hrs) or for parking permits only so think carefully before bringing your car. Edinburgh shops are approx. 10 minute walk away. We would definitely stay here again but without the car.

Staff were helpful,Room was spotless, bed was large and very comfortable. The downside to the hotel was just a bit far a taxi cost us £7 just one way,There is also alot of roads closed and footpaths closed due to the tram line getting built.

Dear Lise,
Thanks for taking the time to post a review following your recent stay with us. It was pleasing to read the staff were helpful and the bed was large and comfortable all being to your satisfaction.
As a rough guide, a taxi in and around the city centre is on average between £7 and £10, if you were to visit the hotel again, I’d recommend using the local bus which is extremely convenient at a cost of £1.50 per journey.
I do hope to welcome you back to the Apex European Hotel in the future
Best wishes
Vicky

Hotel was very good, the staff friendly and helpful. Room lovely and clean. 10 mins to Edinburgh city centre. found easily but beware of city centre if driving as nearly all roads are closed to normal traffic because of new tram system

Disappointing stay here - much better off booking in a local Guest House.
We got a special deal and the room was very basic but would have been furious if I had paid full price for this. Decor updated but actual fabric of room quite shoddy - large, ugly and very stained desk, hole in ceiling. Bathroom not entirely clean and tiolet seat peeling.
Reception staff uninterested and not particularly helpful.
As a city centre hotel had not expected a huge car park but had been assured there were some spaces. Most of these seemed to be occupied by staff. There is some parking availabe on the street but this is pay by meter, so ensure you have enough change. Also only short term.
My advice is go elsewhere!

Dear Dale,
Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback regarding your recent stay with us.
I was disappointed that your stay did not meet your expectations and apologise that the room and our reception staff were not up to the high standards I would expect at the hotel.
I am also very sorry for the lack of car parking spaces available to you on your arrival, we do endeavour to move staff cars from the car park in order to allow guests to park and will certainly investigate this with my team to ensure this is the case.
I do hope to welcome you back to Apex Hotels again and that this experience will not deter you.
Kind Regards
Vicky
