We stayed for a week. Best thing is its superb location, e.g. 2 blocks off the Royal Mile; bus stop at the front door, 10-minute walk to the main bus station; taxi stand on each corner; 5-minute walk to the train station at Waverly Bridge; airport shuttle leaves from and returns to Waverly Bridge; 15 to 20-minute walk to the top of Calton HIll. Our room was small but bathroom was new and large. My daughter and son-in-law's room was a bit larger but the bathroom was smaller. No AC, but we opened the window and were quite comfortable. Breakfast is full and satisfying, but if you are in a morning rush there is a McDonald's about 3/4 block away. We only ate at the restaurant once, when they offered and early-bird or "pre-theater" special. The food is good but too expensive for what it is. Staff was courteous and helpful. The bar is attractive and comfortable and the dining room has a great view of the castle. I would probably stay here again, but I might check out the Royal British, about 1 block east.
