Owner description: Hidden beneath the Royal Mile lies Edinburgh’s deepest secret: a warren of hidden ‘closes’ where real people lived, worked and died. For centuries they have lain forgotten and abandoned…until now. Visit Edinburgh's most famous Close, which makes Edinburgh's Hidden History unmissable.

We had a blast visiting the underground closes! The unique exhibit appropriately supplemented the historic relics with clever use of today's technology. Chris T. narrated our journey accurately and humorously. Your improvised side comments cracked us up! Thanks for such a wonderful experience!!! Next time we'll bring a stuffed animal ;)

Visited last night with my partner and I was so excited to see the place since seeing it on tv years ago. Our guide Gavin wasn't a bad guide but it seemed like he couldn't have been bothered and wasn't very helpful with the foreigners. His lack of conviction was a little disappointing but he was quite funny. The place itself is fantastic but you don't get much time to properly explore each room and you can't take photos.

Wasn't sure what to expect, thought it was going to be more 'ghosty'. It was a great tour and fascinating to see how people lived from the smallest home to the last inhabited. Chris T was a great tour guide and played his role very well. The 'Harry Potter' style portraits were very clever and again Chris added to this experience. The hour passed quickly. It is amazing to think how long this part of Edinburgh has been standing and that it was so populated. Can't wait to go back!

The only tour of real Mary king's close, the tour guide was brilliant and knew what she was talking about.

Paul, the guide was superb. This is a walk beneath the streets of Edinburgh coupled with a couple of murder & ghost stories- beware the squeaky rubber rat in the plague room. Not a place for those with limited mobility
