“lovely little place, personal interest included”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

We had lunch here yesterday and the food was lovely, beautifully presented and most of all we were made felt as if they were glad we were there - an uncommon feeling nowadays.
Ok, perhaps lunch may not have been for the intimate meal as it was noisy and there was a party but even so, it was happy and jolly.
We will certainly return, perhaps the most enjoyable lunch for many months. Highly recommended - most definitely book as it seems the restaurant is constantly full. Lovely.

“Tremendous but noisy”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Having watched a series of failed eateries take up brief residence on the corner of Church Hill and Morningside Road its great to see that something has finally taken hold. Nonna's has become an institution. The food is gorgeous and the atmosphere joyfully racous withe almost every meal accompanied by a dimming of lights and community singing of Happy Birthday to all ages.

The real strength of the place is its service however, nothing is too much trouble. On one of my last visits we found ourselves sitting next to a couple on what appeared to be their first attempt at an evening out with baby in tow. Baby was running them ragged and spoiling their evening until Nonna herself hoisted the noisy wean onto her shoulder and carted her contentedly around the restaurant for half an hour. Above and beyond!

Take earplugs.

“Genuine Italian Hospitality”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

This beautiful restaurant manages to combine modern elegance with the feel of a friendly family dining experience.
From the minute you enter , to be greeted by the lovely Jimmy , you become cossetted and relaxed!
We arrived post theatre, but never felt rushed, and were allowed to take as much time as was necessary, to both choose and enjoy Mimmo's wonderful cooking!
All in all a memorable night, and as one who lives in Italy for 5 months of the year, I can commend this Ristorante as a "must do"!

“Seriously good”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Took my Dad here when he came to visit me last month, as he lived in Italy for 20 years hes a good judge of Italian food. Well this place knocks it out of the park, from the great welcome as you arrive to the great list of specials as you order and fantastic wine list and when the food arrives every dish a winner!!! Well impressed and would not even consider going to another Italian restaurant in Scotland let alone Edinburgh. Grazie mille Nonnas.

“Lunch stop after shopping...”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

Visited Nonna';s Kitchen in November last year; popped in for a respite after early Xmas shopping spree.
So happy to have found this lovely Family run traditional Italian family run restaurant,( which would give Jamie Oliver's a run for his money for sure.) I love the fact that they have 2 menu's which can be mixed & matched. and a BIG plus a lovely Children's Menu, offering either Pizza or a Spaghetti- Goujons either fish or chicken..plus desert all important ice cream. for £6.25 for 2 course for a child..is very good.
Now I am a Grandmother. I am responsible for my Little People & therefore are always looking out for decent eateries for children. Its just as important to offer children decent food.(rather than the bland fare offered by chain eateries in the town!)
So well done..& can't wait to return to sample more of the menu I have been dreaming about authentic Tiramisu! oo & your Italian sausage!!
