We were here on a rainy day, and it was still amazing. The Royal Botanic Gardens are huge and you can easily spend hours here walking around. There were also 2 cafes in the park. The large one was by the west gate and served good food. My mom is an avid flower/tree lover and we walked around for a long time admiring all the plants and trees. The rock gardens were unique as well. Most of the names are unfortunately just in latin. It would have been nice to have common names as well. There were tons of families here, and we met up with friends that came in from England. Great meeting place. Great place to let the kids run. There are 2 buses that run from Princes Street to the east gate, and an additional bus that runs on the weekends only. Easy 10 minute bus ride, or 30 minute downhill walk.

Visited with my teenage daughter who is a keen photographer and spent a wonderful day enjoying the gardens and glasshouses. The sun shone and we have some wonderful pictures to remind us of our trip.

Loved our few hours back in the old Botanical gardens where we used to take our children, when they were young.

Great to wander around this large garden and enjoy the amazing variety of 'flora'. It's size means you can easily enjoy a few hours here without retracing steps - and the fact that it is 'free' means families can perhaps return for short visits if it suits them without straining finances

My first visit here was a few years ago, but it was well worth returning. The gardens are fabulous but the glasshouses are just out of this world. Something for everyone.
