The gardens were fine but if you want refreshments they are expensive with endless queues to pay. I think it would have been a 5 score if we'd been there in the Summer and then to take a picnic would have been nice.

As you would expect, a well manicured and maintained place to visit in the lovely New Town area of Edinburgh. Very peaceful, relaxing walks around different areas/themes in the gardens and lovely coffee house to finish off your visit.

When you tire of paying £40+ per family for admission per attraction, pop down to this oasis of calm and be impressed by the layout and quality / quantity of the plants - for free!

The garden is a little bit out of town but well worst a visit! It is beautifully looked after and quiet. The most amazing thing is that it is a free attraction; also small charge apply if you wish to visit the glass houses.

We went on Easter Monday, the glasshouses were not all open but you got free entry into the ones that were open. great expanse of walks outside with at this time of the year a surprising number of plants in blossom and flower. We spent a good hour walking round and when everything is open you could easily spend longer.
