“Great value hotel”
Reviewed March 20, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for 2 nights. It's a little way out of central Edinburgh but its located in a nice suburb with some great bars and restaurants close by. I paid £70 for 2 nights B&B which I thought was excellent value. Spacious rooms, adequate breakfast and there's a bar which has reasonable prices. Definitely stay again

Comfortable and overall good value accommodation. Hotel amenities as expected from Holiday Inn Express. Basically does what it says on the tin. Excellent standards of cleanliness throughout. Comfortable beds. Standard bathroom, decent shower plenty hot water. Breakfast adequate though nothing special. Machine hot drinks. three hot dishes - sausages, beans and scrambled eggs. Yoghurts, fruit juices, cheese, bread, cereals, fruit segments, fresh fruit etc. Staff friendly and helpful. Free onsite parking.
It takes about half an hour to walk to Princes Street (city centre) or there frequent buses to most parts of the city. Ocean Terminal shopping centre across the road. Many excellent restaurants in the area, particularly towards 'The Shore', Leith.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the docks as there is no traffic on this side of the building. Other room...

Dear scottraveljunkie,
Many thanks for posting a review of your recent visit to our hotel.
I’m so glad that you found our beds to be comfortable, the hotel to have excellent standards of cleanliness and that you enjoyed the wide selection available on our breakfast buffet.
The hotel is ideally situated not only for the wide range of excellent restaurants in the local area but also for the city itself through the use of the very frequent public bus service that runs from just outside the hotel.
I do hope that we may have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.
Kind regards,
Andrew

This is an ideal hotel for a visit to Edinburgh. Close to Ocean Terminal in Leith with numerous buses on hand to take you to the city centre or anywhere else in Edinburgh. The bus fares are cheap but have the right money as no change is given.A day ticket might be best. The hotel has very good facilities and the breakfast makes a good start to the day.Generous free parking space. Have a good stay, we always do!

We picked this hotel primarily for a trip to Britannia. There are also buses nearby for a fast trip into the city centre.
Hotel amenities were as expected and absolutley fine, the breakfast buffet was much better than expected with plenty of choice.
My only complaint was being unable to connect to the free wifi with my iPod. Magda, a member of staff, was extremely helpful and did her best to connect it up for me. Other people seemed to be online on laptops so perhaps the fault was mine.

Stayed here from 26-28 Feb 2013 and have to say it was one of the nicest HiEx hotels I have ever stayed in. Location is just across from the Ocean Terminal Shopping Mall if retail therapy is your thing, but the Bus stops literally at front door of hotel and for £3.50 for a day ticket it will be the best scenic tour you will ever go on!! Hotel is clean, functional, well equipped and the staff are extremely approachable and pleasant. The room itself is well presented and has everything we needed, bed was comfortable and no external noise at all, so a peaceful sleep was had. Breakfast next morning was plentiful and replenished regularly. Overall we were extremely glad we "tagged on" Edinburgh to our Tour of Scotland, and especially pleased we chose this superb little hotel.

Room Tip: Leave the car and get a Day ticket on the No.22 to see Edinburgh stress-free.

We stayed here for one night prior to the Edinburgh half marathon. Rooms were clean and comfortable and we were able to get an early continental breakfast as the run started at 8 in the morning. Across the road was a shopping centre with plenty of places to eat. The night was quite expensive as the price had been hyped up because of the marathon festival.

As long as you are not going for the view this hotel was ideal for our purpose, It was clean and really comfortable. A shower that was fantastic and did not entail climbing into a bath to use. Breakfast was very basic but served the purpose. I would stay here again
